       Prescriptions ....
By: Moira Date: August 14, 2025, 4:29 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
It has taken me 4 days to get a repeat prescription on my pills.
Pills I have been prescribed for the last ....... 30+ years in
       NZ and Aus. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This morning ... nothing had come through to the Chemist ( new
owners and new name BUT same chemist shop ! ) SO I went to the
Waverley Clinic this morning ( Only open here on a Mon and Thurs
) I explained to the NEW receptionist and she said she will make
sure that the GP will do them today ! I did offer to WAIT ....
but the GP was BUSY !!!!!!!!!!!
I called into the Chemist again at 4:30pm and they were JUST
doing my prescription ! PHEW. Good job the older chemist
assistant ? knows me ..... SO does the New Black Chemist owner
       too ..... now :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
BUT at least I have a month's supply now ! You may remember that
once upon a time we got a 3 Months supply all in one go .....but
now they fiddle about and it is only 1 month supply provided
..... in case of Over doses !!!!!!! Ridiculous !
OK rant over and PASS :) Must be time for bed or I can talk to
       myself I suppose !!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Also on the prescription today was one for Capsaicin Cream
.... I could not remember what it was for or why but I looked it
up and see it is for pain relief !!! The chemist did not have
any but they will get me some ...maybe tomorrow !
Capsaicin is a cream used for pain relief for osteoarthritis and
       nerve pain.
I KNOW the name is familiar to me BUT How ???? Do you know of it
or do you use it Darien ? I KNOW we have discussed it before
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WILL be awake all night now once
       again thinking :(((((((((((((((((((((

I get 6 months supply on most of my scripts, some are only 3
months though. I wonder why NZ are so strict on there's? I get
that many people abuse the system, which is why it can be hard
to get some scripts and some are only for a short time, but 1
months supply is ridiculous!!!!! So you have no repeat scripts
       then?
If we have discussed Capsaicin cream before, I certainly don't
remember it. I did do a very quick search on the cram and see
it's main ingredient is from the chilli plant!!!! I always
thought people with arthritis should not have a lot of chilies.
       Was it for your knee?

IN Aus It was 6 months supply I am sure for MOST medicines...
not all........ WE used to get 3 months supply pills at one time
here THEN the government changed it to 1 month at a time..
apparently due to over indulgence by some people
       !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Load of Bollocks.
Every MONTH I have to renew my script in the chemist... I just
go in and check it is ready and pick up the pills .... easy
enough but every 3 Months I need to get a THING from the MY
main GP Clinic In Whanganui and they send it to the chemist here
for the next 3 months .. to be supplied on request every month
       !! PASS !
Talking to Penny today .... IT Is her husband Perry who has
this Capsaicin cream ........... for his GOUT !
I never got the chance to go to the chemist today to see if they
had got MY cream in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PASS
       !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUT... Just been reading about it and it seems it is no longer
       available.
The only manufacturer has gone bust. Capsaicin cream is no
longer available primarily because the only manufacturer has
gone bust, leaving patients without access to this treatment for
nerve damage. Additionally, the unavailability is attributed to
regulatory issues, manufacturing challenges, and lack of
marketing efforts. Furthermore, both licensed presentations of
capsaicin topical cream have been discontinued.
       Daily Mail March 2025 !
I DO also have a vague memory of reading about this before
       !!!!!!!!
       +2

Even though we get 6 months supply of our prescriptions, we can
only get them made up once a month and not before a certain date
again because of the same reason you have, people have abused
the system. Some of the scripts I am on I can get the Dr send to
the chemist without an appointment, but others require an
       appointment.
Robert has never been prescribed a cream for his gout only a
strong anti-inflammatory, but he is on a preventative medication
which works with only the odd breakthrough attack.

PS: SO why do I have a repeat prescription for this stuff
Capsaicin Cream ??????????????? WHO is the GP in Whanganui who
DOES NOT even KNOW Me .. who added it to my renewed prescription
       ?????? Probably some Foreign GP ... doctor ???? !!!!!!!!!!!!
I will call in to the chemist on Monday and ASK them
!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT That they even had any Capsaicin Cream on
Friday when they DID do my latest prescription but I Was told
they would get me some !
At that time I Had no idea what they were even talking about
until I got home and saw the actual prescription form !
       Sigh..... PASS AGAIN !!
I do have to put this in writing for my future reference if
       needed ... you understand :)))))))))))))))))))))) [emoji170]

I take it you have never had this cream before or have you??
Were you prescribed a cream for your knee before? Seems odd
though if you have never had it.
Good idea to ask the chemist, he will know what it for and if
       you have it before.

I looked up my old medical stuff and I DID have some Capsaicin
Cream prescribed ....... for the time when I took off my jumper
at Bunnings ages ago.... inside the car and hit my right hand on
the car door and damaged my knuckles ... they did swell up and
they were painful !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still not right to this day
...... but I don't use the cream any more in fact I am sure it
did not do anything at all back them !!
BUT tomorrow I WILL go to the chemist and ask about it
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe I can use it for my knee
       !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OR something similar as I see the Actual Capsaicin Cream company
has gone Bust ! I will see tomorrow !

I keep reading the cream as 'capsicum' cream and now that is how
it will forever stay in my mind!!!!
It might be worth a try on your knee, but if the company has
gone bust, you may not be able to get any.
