AH yes I do remember that now about Kylie and her nursing :)
" Own beds " I suppose they could push them together to make one
big bed :)
Been there, done that way back in the first few weeks in an Army
house after John and I got married and moved to an Army camp in
Basingstoke :) The Army did provide the basic stuff and the Army
quarters did all have a cooker, and fridge and other basic stuff
:)

I didn’t realise Kylie didn’t finish her training, I always
thought she was an SEN, that’s only 2 years training, not sure
if they have them in Australia anymore, they don’t here in the
uk now.

They had double beds, Em bought hers when she first moved up to
Townsville as she was sick of sleeping in a single bed with no
room to move [emoji4]
Never heard of a SEN before, but I believe it may be what call
an Enrolled nurse. Kylie was training to become a registered
nurse.

HMmm well Emma is not slow on the uptake of life :))))))))))))
!!!!!!!!!
I am sure we have spoken of this difference in SRN and SEN
before too !!! Ange was too young to train to be a SRN at 16
when she first applied for nursing so she did a year + as a SEN
... State Enrolled Nurse then as she got to 18.... she did the
SRN stuff. More complicated ! You had to be 18 to study to be a
SRN :) 3 years training too ... in England anyway back in the
olden days ! :)
SO Chris says they do not do SEN nursing any more in UK ! I did
not know that !

I wished they would stop Enrolled Nursing here too, they aren't
trained enough and they are usually left to their own devices,
at least that's what I have found anyway, especially in nursing
homes!!!!! Many years ago here, you could only be a registered
nurse to work in a hospital, now it's mostly ENs that are there
being 'supervised' by an RN.

I think I have read stuff like that too Darien on FB about there
being so many SENs on wards and not enough SRNs ! Mainly
Foreign born too but of course they will be paid less than a SRN
... in UK Anyway !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also seem to remember Angie complaining about this too ... way
back !

The hospital system is desperate for any kind of nurses I
suppose as most of the RNs were burnt out and left after covid I
have been told, they just aren't paid enough and have to work
such long hours [emoji19]
Most of the staff I have seen in the two nursing homes I have
known are ENs from the Phillipines!!!!!

That is what I have read about too with the SRNs being worked
too much and too long due to covid so maybe that is why so many
foreign nurses are being recruited !!!!
SRNs DO work long hours when needed and I can remember Ange
talking about a Measles ? or maybe Flu epidemic when she worked
in Cambridge and how she was shattered at all the hours she and
her mate Maureen had to put in to help the SENs mostly foreign
girls ....as they needed to have an SRN there on the wards at
all times !
I do believe that put Ange off Hospital / Ward nursing so she
became a GP nurse ... well she did marry Frank and move to
Northumberland but the GP nurse worked better for her :)

My friend Cath gave up working in a hospital after covid and
worked as a pathology nurse for a while before she retired, she
did do pathology work before covid as well off and on. They
expect far too much from nurses and some patients are so bloody
rude too, I could never do it as I don't have the patience.
How old was Ange when she passed away?
