GP visits today
By: Moira Date: March 6, 2025, 3:00 am

John had his bloods done this arvo at about 1:50pm (appt.was
for 1:30pm) and I sat in with him with the South African nurse ,
nice female :)Cannot remember her name !! NO problems and we
await the results of John's bloods, diabetics etc :) Had a few
chuckles with the SA nurse as I did the last time I saw here :)
Then my Appt. at 2pm... got to see the GP about 2:25pm :) NO
worries there were a few people waiting ... one poor bloke in a
wheel chair and unable to more anything except his eyes !
The GP was SO young and wore Winkle Picker shoes !! HAVE I
seen him before with his winkle picker shoes
?????????????????????????????
Anyway I have to go to Whanganui Hospital for my Thyroid blood
tests tomorrow as the blood has to be tested within half an hour
of been taken . I DO know that from being told it in Helensville
but I had forgotten ! ! Plus I have to go get another Xray on my
hand as this young doc thinks maybe something IS broken ! He
gave me a prescription for my sinus spray Flixonade .. I can
get it in the chemist but it is Cheaper if it is on Prescription
!
AH well I did want to go shopping tomorrow in Whanganui
:))))))))))))))))))))

Oh I didn’t realise you were still having trouble with your
hand, I hope you can get it sorted ok, will you have the bloods
and X-ray done at the same hospital? It’s the same here when we
have a go appointment it’s never on time!

What will he do if you have broken your hand? It's been a few
weeks now and will have to be reset I should imagine
((((((((((Moira)))))))))) Sometimes an X-ray won't show a break
due to swelling around the area, quite common. Good luck with
your thyroid blood test. We rarely get in to see a Dr at the
appointed time, very frustrating some times.
As for the winkle picker shoes.........No I don't believe we
have ever discussed them before and I can't help but smile and
wonder what our Linda would have thought of that comment

I took myself off to Whanganui hospital this morning once again
it took an extra half hour to get there due to road works !!!!!
I did not know where to go so went into Emergency as they also
do GP visits there if you do not live in Whanganui .... and I
got my hand xrayed fast ... and done by a more experienced
girl.. Connie :) She got lots of pictures and they got sent to
a GP in A&E so I had to go back and wait for 15 mins to get the
results . The GP was a quite elderly lady .... but funny and
very straight :) She said NO breaks and it is just arthritis or
rheumatism.. in BOTH my hands but the one the is still sore was
made worse by the bang I gave it and the swelling is still there
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She gave me some ZoRub Osteo cream to rub on my
sore hand :) BUT you have to be careful not to get it in your
eyes or it will hurt. She said she uses it too !!!
WHY Is this familiar to me ..... Do you have similar cream
Darien ? Or maybe I have had similar cream before ?????
Then I went to the next building to get my bloods done. About 16
people waiting and all elderly ish .... ! John rang my phone
while waiting and I had it on speaker and he was asking me to
get dog biscuits and dog food .... so everyone was listening and
having a chuckle as he could not hear me so I had to speak
loudly :)))))))))))) It kept them entertained even if I DID not
have my bottom teeth in and we did all end up chatting
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bloods took 5 minutes after waiting maybe 20
mins. SO not bad at all this time waiting wise. Then I went
shopping for food :)

Hahahaha you do make me laugh Moira! I’m sure the elderly doctor
was right about your hand and I hope the cream helps.

I am not at all surprised that you have arthritis or rheumatism
in your hands, you have used your hands for work and craft all
your life, so it certainly makes sense. I haven't used, or even
heard of the cream, so you may have known someone else who used
it.
At least you brightened up everyone's morning for them

Free hospital entertainment even if I had no bottom teeth in !

I have not even used the arthritis pain cream today as my hand
is not really sore except first thing after not using it
overnight .... BUT I did remember how I Have had the same or
similar stuff in Perth .. for my knee pain or maybe for my
shoulder pain or maybe for my hip pain................... Cannot
remember but I Do remember using it and having to be careful NOT
to get it in your eyes or rub your eyes without washing your
hands !! Anyway I do have it for free and I might use it on my
sore neck !!!!
I have always used my hands Darien and what you say does make
sense to me !!! Ah well, getting older
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do remember Mother Winefred in St Monica's boarding school,
the music and piano teacher and she used to tell us to keep
using out hands so when we get older we do not get Arthritis
!!!! I need a piano :)

Often the best thing for arthritis is movement, it ceases up
when not in use. Sometimes though it hurts like the very devil
so movement is hard.
That was always an old wives tale, as the more more repetitive
movements of our joints wears it away over time. I think either
you have arthritis or you don't, no matter what you do.

Well I do use my hands a lot and they are pretty flexible ..
apart from the sore middle finger nowadays. Maybe I DO have
arthritis but I DO use my hands and fingers a lot but then again
I DO also use my feet to get around and my knees do bend often
and my elbows do bend a lot :)))))))))))))))))))
I did use some of the Arthritis cream on my neck today as it was
sore ..( from my colouring in and being on this computer ) and I
rubbed it in and put on my silk scarf to keep it warm :) IT
worked ... so far :))))))))))))))))) I DO also USE my neck a lot
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thinking last night ... My Mum used to say the more you used
your hands the more tired they got and they would end up with
Arthritis if you were always doing certain things .. she was a
sewer and did end up with Arthritis in her hands .. her knuckles
were often swollen somewhat ... a bit like mine in my right
hand !

I can sympathise as I have arthritis in my left thumb and right
index finger and it’s very painful at times, the pain in my left
hand radiates down my wrist sometimes and then I put a support
on it.
