Gout
By: DarienJ Date: February 25, 2025, 2:45 pm

Robert had been up all night Monday night with gout in his
thumb!!! He has bad arthritis in that thumb joint, so he was in
agony [emoji20] Garry cam over and gave him a couple of his gout
anti-inflammatory tablets as Robert's were well out of date. He
was much better by yesterday evening and this morning he spent
on the loo, but has now gone into work for a few hours. We go to
the Drs tomorrow, so he will get another script for the
anti-inflammatories to have just in case.

Bugger so how does Robert know that it is Gout in his thumb...
and it is not Arthritis ? Matt has just gone back up home
complaining that his gout has NOT gone away completely !!!!!!!!
I will of course be interested to hear the outcome :)
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Robert)))))))))))))))))))))))))

I do also think YOU can hear us over here as Matt was also
complaining of how he is always on the loo or feeling a bit sick
after taking the anti inflams. prescribed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM
the same so I do not like to take anti inflams !

Gout comes on suddenly and the pain is very intense and doesn't
ease off, where as arthritis pain does ease up a bit with
movement. The anti-inflammatories for gout are very strong, much
different than the normal ones you can take long term. Robert is
back to normal now, his thumb is still a bit tender, but that is
all, thank goodness. His tummy is feeling much better too
[emoji4]
I hope Matt's gout clears up soon. He should check his diet and
see what triggers his gout, anything high in purines will do it.

I have just repeated all this to Matt who is sitting outside
with John but NOT drinking because of his gout which is still
bothering him today BUT it is not too bad and he did manage to
go wood cutting with John ! Matt is fussy what he eats most of
the time ..... not that I know what is good or bad in his case
!! He says the Anti inflamms upset his stomach but then the
also do that to me too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just had a quick read re: Food high in Purines all new to me
..... and Matt does eat a lot of chicken as his meat of choice
and that is good :)

I take Mobic 15mgs every day, have done so for many years now,
but it isn't as strong as the gout ones so it doesn't bother my
tummy at all. Indocid and the other gout ones are strong and
can't be taken regular as they strip your gut apparently,
eventually.

The gout meds that Matt is taking DO affect his stomach and he
does not want to eat !

cause a lot of tummy problems ((((((((((Matt))))))))))

I got a bit muddled as Matt also takes Voltaren for the pain and
THAT is what upsets his tummy ! AS it does mine too !!!!!!!!!!!!
SO I do not take it !
He is a wee bit better walking today and left the crutches here
today..... so I could trip over them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn’t realise Matt was so bad he needed crutches? Sorry you
fell over them, hope you didn’t hurt yourself.
