How and what do we use to purchase refined gold from God?
       By: guest24 Date: April 9, 2020, 9:44 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I am currently studying the symbolism of gold. I came across
this passage quoted in HCSB because it's open.
       Revelation 3:14-22
14 “Write to the angel of the church in Laodicea:
“The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Originator[h] of
God’s creation says: 15 I know your works, that you are neither
cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 So, because
you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to
vomit[i] you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, ‘I’m rich; I
have become wealthy and need nothing,’ and you don’t know that
you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked, 18 I advise
you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire so that you may be
rich, white clothes so that you may be dressed and your shameful
nakedness not be exposed, and ointment to spread on your eyes so
that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline.
So be committed[j] and repent. 20 Listen! I stand at the door
and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will
come in to him and have dinner with him, and he with Me. 21 The
victor: I will give him the right to sit with Me on My throne,
just as I also won the victory and sat down with My Father on
       His throne.
22 “Anyone who has an ear should listen to what the Spirit says
       to the churches.”
I included context so we know what we are talking about...so
what or how can we buy this refined gold?

       It's interesting isn't it?
Makes you wonder about the spiritual economy when in the
parables it speaks of things like the shrewd manager, the
landowner, the farmer, and so on...
It's safe to assume you understand he isn't talking about real
gold, which Ezekiel says like silver would be as common
(valuable) as refuse in the streets. To understand the meaning
you have to look at the concept and conceptually gold is what
our minds would relate to a thing of great or highest value, but
it is more than that. Ezekiel 7:14
What you are referring to was written to an angel first of all
so it's clearly regarding the spiritual sense which is greater
than the physical sense (which would be worthless in the
spiritual realm which is not physical). The simplest way of
understanding the value of something is by way of comparison.
The reference from the book of revelation doesn't just advise
the angel to buy gold, but to buy gold refined in the fire.
He's telling him to focus on things that will last when tested.
Things that will be made pure by the fire, and not the things
that are perishable, or that will be consumed by testing.
1 Corinthians 3:12-14 “Now if anyone builds on this foundation
with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s
work will become clear; for the Day will declare is, because it
will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s
work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on
it endures, he will receive a reward.”
To the angel responsible for spreading the seed (the Word) to a
certain field it's pointed out- you think you are rich. You
think you are wealthy. Again-- it isn't speaking of physical
riches or physical wealth, but spiritual. What is spiritual
wealth? It is knowledge. The foundation that was laid was the
knowledge that was given and the angel was tasked with taking
what was given him and making something more of it (as in the
parable of the talents) so that when the time of testing
(judgement / fire) there will be something of value left.
'You don't know that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and
naked --- because you think you are rich! You think you know it
all and have it all figured out and these are the things you
teach others, but you are building with fluff. With leaven, and
it's worthless. It won't last. It won't endure when the
testing comes. So acquire what will last... clothe your
nakedness with the white cloth (purified, washed) of righteous
acts, and get your eyes fixed because you haven't been seeing
       properly.
But why say all these things to an angel?

Mr E, before I typed simply "Obedience". Purified by fire. Why
tell an angel these things? Perhaps to be recorded and set in
       holy scripture.

       To be purified... refined... tested.
Do you know what nephrology is?
I wonder where that "neph" part comes from? Why would these
things be said to an angel?
Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do
the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will
remove your lampstand out of its place–unless you repent.

riches or physical wealth, but spiritual.
[/quote]I also found Job 22:25 interesting....equating God to
our gold, iow's putting God as of the most valuable things this
       earth can afford.

Here in Job it relates also to knowledge-- trading your gold,
       for His.
The His Word becomes your silver and gold.
“Please receive instruction from His mouth
And establish His words in your heart.
       23 “If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored;
If you remove unrighteousness far from your tent,
24 And place your gold in the dust,
And the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks,
25 Then the Almighty will be your gold
       And choice silver to you.
26 “For then you will delight in the Almighty
And lift up your face to God.
       27 “You will pray to Him, and He will hear you;
And you will pay your vows.
28 “You will also decree a thing, and it will be established
       for you;
And light will shine on your ways.
