       Human contact....
       By: guest24 Date: March 23, 2020, 8:46 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I have seen first hand how important person contact is to
people, whether in a hug, a handshake, or a holy kiss. In this
current pandemic situation we are "forbidden" from such human
contract. Even in children we see that human contact helps them
thrive. So how in this pandemic situation are you dealing with
the lack of human contact/touch? and how can we recover that
lost contract as we go forward?

This is temporary. In the meantime I hold those close to me in
my heart and hug them with my prayers.

I work in the medical field and I'm well aware of the value of
human contact at all times, but particularly at times like this.
To protect myself I could wear a containment suit I suppose,
with hood and shield, respirator and double gloves. When
dealing with a sick person I could certainly prevent myself from
getting sick, but what of that sick person? How does my
approach affect their health and well being?
So I choose to touch them with an open hand and if they are
coughing I offer them a mask to contain their cough, but I
myself don't wear one in regular patient interactions. It means
a lot to see each other. It means a lot to touch and be
touched. We take precautions when and where they need to be
taken. I would never go in the OR without a mask, but I simply
don't need one at Home Depot or the grocery store. It's silly.
This isn't the first 'social distancing' episode in human
history. Remember lepers? Unclean! Unclean! Cross on the
other side of the street. Keep them away from all public
       places.
You can't get leprosy from touching a person with the disease
and oh what it would mean for a person like that to feel a human
       touch.
Wash your hands. Don't touch your mouth, nose or eyes without
washing your hands before and/or after.
