What weapons do we fight with?

We live in the flesh in the world in which our senses observe.
Because our entire perspective comes from the flesh and bone
body we live in we tend to see everything as what is going on in
this world that we observe. Like scientists we take our fleshly
experiences into our spiritual understanding but to do that when
it comes to our fights means we will miss it. Our battles are
not against this world and the things here. Our battle is not
against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12) but against the rulers
of darkness in this world. Since our battle is a spiritual one
not a fleshly one, we need spiritual weapons. Not only do we
need spiritual weapons but we need to have the skill to use
them. They are weapons that destroy arguments against the
gospel. (II Corinthians 10) Taking our thoughts captive, we
learn to wage war against the arguments that are raised against
Christ. We should let our words match our actions. Commending
ourselves to God, focused on what He has asked of us. It is
easy to assume we alone are His or that someone elses ministry
is what we want, so contentment is also part of the weapons we
use to fight the spiritual battles that rage around us. (I
Timothy 6:6-12)
The weapons we fight with are not weapons of this world. They
are the weapons of light, not darkness. (Romans 13:12) The
weapons that we fight with are truth, righteousness, the
readiness for the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the
word of God. We use these weapons through prayer and staying
alert as we proclaim the gospel in boldness and endurance.
(Ephesians 6:10-20)
