Do you live like a pagan or a saint?

In my study this AM I came across this verse....Matthew 6:32
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your
heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
I think any honest person would say it is hard to trust God when
there is no money or food or shelter and yet that is what we are
called to do.
I remember one time, when we had nothing to feed our kids but a
can of green beans and some older bread...it was hard to trust
God and yet we not only found a way to do so but we also had the
opportunity to grow in our faith as we watched God care for us.
So I open this discussion for discussion, for edification, for
encouragement, for stories of blessings that God granted when
the world would have been seeking after the "THINGS" of this
world and God's people rested confident that God would provide
(No I am not saying doing nothing as in not working for a living
but rather, resting in confidence that God has it)

There was this woman who came to my house many years ago. She
was selling things out of her car. I can't remember exactly what
she was selling. Anyway, we were talking and I just mentioned
that I couldn't afford to buy anything from her because it took
everything my husband and I could make to pay rent and bills and
buy groceries etc. She said, "You must not be living right to be
having problems like that".
Really? So I guess there is no mention of anyone in the
scriptures having any kind of problem, enduring hardships etc. I
can think of many who did. Were they not living right? Were they
promised a rose garden in this world? Is it all about
materialism and money that determines whether a person is
"living right"? I don't think so. I mean really, does God care
that we might own an expensive house and have lots of money and
have no problem paying rent and bills and buying food, clothes
etc. Is that supposed to impress God? It's sad that so many
people think that way. Always chasing after more money and
material things instead of focusing on spiritual things.
John 16:33 I have told you these things so that in Me you may
have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take
courage; I have overcome the world!"
2Cor.6:4 in everything, rather, we are commending ourselves as
God’s servants: in great endurance, in tribulations, in
hardships, in distresses; 5 in beatings, in imprisonments, in
riots, in labors, in watchings, in fastings; 6 in purity, in
knowledge, in patience, in kindness; in the Holy Spirit, in
genuine love; 7 in the word of truth, in the power of God; with
the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the
left; 8 through glory and dishonor, through bad report and good
report; as imposters and yet true; 9 as being unknown and yet
being well-known; as dying and yet, behold, we live; as being
punished and yet not being killed; 10 as being sorrowful yet
always rejoicing; as poor yet enriching many; as having nothing

I so enjoy reading your posts....we have been judged our whole
lives for being poor and yet when we left it all to pursue God's
call on our lives, only a small handful of people grasped that
that is what God has called us all to do...to be obedience, to
seek God and allow Him to provide all that we need. And isn't
that the heart of the whole thing, we should seek/pursue God and
let Him take care of everything else...amen and amen.
