Why is it important to obey?

There are many passages that tell us to obey and yet it always
amazes me how many people even on these boards think it is okay
to do things like lie about what other posters say, name call,
slander, etc. So why is it important that all true believers
obey, even in these things?
2 Corinthians 10:5 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high
thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and
bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of
Christ;

Taming the Tongue
James 3:9 With it we bless our LORD and Father, and with it we
curse men, those being made according to the likeness of God. 10
Out of the same mouth proceed forth blessing and cursing. My
brothers, these things ought not to be so.
The Wisdom from Above
James 3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show
it by his good conduct, by deeds done in the humility that comes
from wisdom. 14 But if you harbor bitter jealousy and selfish
ambition in your hearts, do not boast in it or deny the truth.
15 Such wisdom does not come from above, but is earthly,
unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition
exist, there will be disorder and every evil practice. 17But the
wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle,
accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and
sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap the fruit of
righteousness.
Luke 16:10 The one faithful in very little is also faithful in
much, and the one unrighteous in very little is also unrighteous
in much.
James 1:19 Know this, my beloved brothers. But let every man be
swift to hear, slow to speak, slow unto anger; 20 for man’s
anger does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore,
having put aside all filthiness and abounding of wickedness,
receive in humility the implanted word, being able to save your
souls.
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving
yourselves, 23 because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not
a doer, this one is like a man looking at his natural face in a
mirror, 24 for he has viewed himself and has gone away, and
immediately he has forgotten of what manner he was.
1John 4:20 If anyone should say, "I love God," and should hate
his brother, he is a liar. For the one not loving his brother,
whom he has seen, is not able to love God, whom he has not seen.
1Cor. 12:18But now God has arranged the members, each one of
them in the body, as He desired. 19And if all were one member,
where would be the body? 20But now indeed, there are many
members, but one body.
21Now the eye is not able to say to the hand, “I have no need of
you.” Or again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.”
22But much rather, those members of the body seeming to be
weaker are necessary, 23and those of the body we think to be
less honorable, these we bestow more abundant honor. And our
unpresentable parts have more abundant decorum, 24but our
presentable parts have no need.
But God has composed the body, having given more abundant honor
to the parts being deficient, 25that there should be no division
in the body, but the members should have the same concern for
one another. 26And if one member suffers, all the members suffer
with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with
it.
Luke 18:1 Then Jesus told them a parable about their need to
pray at all times and not lose heart:....

It is commanded
It is allowing the power of God aka the HS to rule
A little righteousness grows into a greater righteousness
It comes by putting off our sinful ways
Obedience means we are not deceived
Shows our Love for God
Builds unity
Requires prayer
amen
