A curious, what do you think?

In my studies this AM I came across a curious verse....I Timothy
6:11 says....11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and
follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience,
       meekness.
The curious thing to me is that both righteousness and godliness
are listed...what is the difference between the two? In my mind
the rest of the verse is self explanatory so please don't get
hung up on trying to explain to me something that is not being
       asked.

Interesting, as I kind of equate the two. That is a case for
studying the original Hebrew and Greek from the earliest
manuscripts. I personally don't think that I can achieve
godliness OR righteousness here on earth. I may have times and
moments when my heart is pure and I am acting righteously and
godly but not 100% of the time. I'm only righteous in God's eyes
       because of Jesus Christ.

A study of the Bible shows: "Righteousness = integrity, virtue,
purity of life, uprightness, correctness in thinking, feeling,
and acting in the following passages: Matthew 3:15; Matthew 5:6,
       10, 20; Matthew 6:1 G L T Tr WH; Acts 13:10; Acts 24:25; Romans
       6:13, 16, 18-20" (1) Thayers Greek Lexicon

Yep I found that too....what I am currently thinking as I wait
for Brian to do a more in depth word study is that righteousness
is our standing, thus is more of an inward focus whereas
Godliness is about being in awe and fear of God thus a more
       outward focus.
