This is a video documenting the process of building an
off-the-grid cabin located over a mile from the nearest road.
Basic carpentry skills are needed, but photos document how most
of this was accomplished. The cabin's sole source of power is
solar. The cost of this build was about $15,000 but there was
no labor charges as it was self-built.

This apartment looks to be 5m x 6m per floor-- which would make
it around 1100 sq feet. I wouldn't call that a tiny home--
       maybe a starter home?

I personally love the tiny house concept and I wish there were
more places that would accommodate them in a true community
setting. If I was a young person starting out, or a young
couple I'd encourage them to find a place that incorporates this
       concept.
I built my first house when I was 18 years old, and while
modest- it wasn't quite in line with the tiny house movement,
but I'm a fan. Here in southern California there are no such
options that I'm aware of. My 24 year old son just bought his
first house and it's around 1100 sq feet, but cost almost $500k.
It's almost impossible for most kids starting out today to get
into the housing market. The tiny house movement is a way to
accomplish that, an opportunity to 'own your own' which develops
a sense of community and responsibility that is positive-- and
do this in a way that doesn't saddle you with a lifetime of
       debt.
