Phobias...
By: guest24 Date: January 28, 2019, 11:13 am

Talking about pets reminded me of our daughters phobia against
ants...even though she loves spiders. I thought it would be fun
to act like a family and share phobias so we can tease one
another with pics and such...just for fun..I'll start...I cannot
stand mice. Rats are meh but mice, no way! I had one crawl up
my back/neck and into my hair one time, had to rake it out with
my hand....no mice, no way no how! Not this chick!

Mine would be snakes. A snake wrapped around both my ankles when
I was five years old and squeezed and squeezed till I fell down
on the road. I started screaming and my mother ran down the road
and managed to get it off of me.
Another time we were out in a field, my brother and sisters and
I, and a coach whip snake chased us across the field. A coach
whip stands up on it's tail while it runs. I was so little that
I had to be practically carried. I looked back at the snake and
saw it running on its tail and it looked like it had a face. I
was terrified. We were able to outrun it back to our house. We
saw a lot of snakes because we lived out in the country in the
middle of nowhere with nothing but trees around us.
Also one night a black panther came up onto our porch. It was
huge. It didn't get into the house. My mother had a rifle so if
it had tried to get into the house, she would have shot it.
Black panthers usually roam at night. Sometimes we saw them
sitting on tree limbs as we drove down the dirt roads at night.
I was always afraid of them.
Honestly, I love your stories...the further out the
better if you ask me. I would much rather take my chances with
an animal than an out of control human.
This isn't really a phobia but a funny story I am gonna tell on
Brian. Brian is a snorer. I have a couple of great snoring
stories on him but the one that I was reminded of here was when
they lived in Nigeria and his sister was terrified of how close
the hyenas were to the house. So their dad went out looking
only to find Brian snoring and his sister thought it was
hyenas....

Well, I have certainly been around out of control humans. They
can be more dangerous than animals, you're right about that.
That's funny about how his sister thought his snoring was
hyenas. :D

I am so afraid of heights it's unbelievable. I freeze up
completely and my stomach churns and flips non-stop. The higher
I get the worse it is.
I don't like ladders much but put me on top of a
mountain and I am "fearless" (not totally but they did call me a
mountain goat when we were climbing and I did almost fall off
the mountain a couple of times and had to help rescue one of our
party)
Brian has problems with heights unless there is a railing...so
like a glass elevator would send him running...well in a glass
elevator he couldn't run very far but you get the idea.

In a house that I lived in many years ago, I put these roach
motels up on the counter top around the canisters. Then shortly
after I heard something in the kitchen. I followed the noise
over to the counter and saw this mouse that had apparently been
chewing on the roach motel just laying there. It must have been
really hungry. I never thought to use roach motels for mice
before that. The roach motels were intended for roaches.

I have fear of heights too. The first time I was on a plane was
just awful. I never want to be on a plane again.

hotel...lol anything to get rid of those nasty little beasts.
Show NO MERCY!
The first time I was on a plane, I kept leaning like you would
on a bike to keep the plane straight...lol I am so stupid...we
got into a little turbulence and I told my husband it felt like
the pot holes on our road back home...they should have the sky
pot holes before I fly again.

Obviously roach motels work to kill mice. That was the first
time I ever saw that happen. I was surprised by that.
There wasn't turbulence when I was on the plane but I could see
when I looked out the window how high up I was and I was feeling
dizzy and I guess something like vertigo. I live in a 15 story
apartment building and wouldn't you know it, they put me on the
15th floor which took some getting used to because I was feeling
that vertigo sensation for a while at first. I have a good
scenic view up here though. And it's quiet on this floor .People
here call this floor The Pinthouse. :D
