WHAT DID PAUL MEAN BY RUN IN VAIN?

[Galatians 2:2 KJV] "And I went up by revelation, and
communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the
Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest
by any means I should run, or had run, in vain." ********** The
traditional view on this is that Paul went to Peter and the
disciples to confirm that the gospel he preached was aligned
with their gospel. Let's examine this ********* [Galatians 1:16
KJV] "To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the
heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:"
[Galatians 1:17 KJV] "Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them
which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and
returned again unto Damascus."
[Galatians 1:18 KJV] "Then after three years I went up to
Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days."
[Galatians 1:19 KJV] "But other of the apostles saw I none, save
James the Lord's brother."
[Galatians 2:1 KJV] "Then fourteen years after I went up again
to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with [me] also."
************ Paul immediately began to preach Christ; he didn't
confer with Peter or any disciple to make sure his preaching was
approved. After three years Paul went to Jerusalem to see Peter.
Then fourteen years after that he went again to Jerusalem to
communicate his gospel to them.
So let's analyze this. Paul started to preach, then after
SEVENTEEN years, he went to Peter and the disciples to make sure
his gospel was approved by them. REALLY????? He waited seventeen
years. This is more than a stretch to explain this passage.
Let's now examine what Paul meant when he said he should, or had
run in vain, by looking at how he meant it elsewhere.
[Galatians 2:3 KJV] "But neither Titus, who was with me, being a
Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:"
[Galatians 2:4 KJV] "And that because of false brethren unawares
brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we
have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:"
*********** There were false brethren who were saying
circumcision of the law was necessary for salvation. Paul
communicated his gospel of grace without the law to Peter and
the disciples. If circumcision and law keeping was required for
salvation then Paul's gospel would be preached in vain.
********** [Galatians 4:9 KJV] "But now, after that ye have
known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the
weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in
bondage?"
[Galatians 4:11 KJV] "I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed
upon you labour in vain." ************* Paul was saying if the
saints in the body of Christ turned back to being circumcised
according to the law then his labour toward them would be in
vain.
