JESUS WAS CRUCIFIED ON A THURSDAY
By: doug Date: March 14, 2026, 3:29 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
HERE IS A DETAILED STUDY OF THE THURSDAY CRUCIFIXION OF CHRIST
[Matthew 26:17 KJV] "Now the first [day] of the [feast of]
unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him,
Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the
passover?"********** This is the preparation day for the
passover************** [Luke 22:1 KJV] "Now the feast of
unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the
Passover."************* The feast of unleavened bread includes
the passover and in fact, the entire feast of unleavened bread
is called the passover. The first day of the feast of unleavened
bread is Nissan the 14th and it ends Nissan 21st.
[Mark 14:12 KJV] "And the first day of unleavened bread, when
they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where
wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the
passover?"......this is WEDNESDAY Nissan 14th.The Passover lamb
was killed the first day of the feast of unleavened bread. The
lamb was killed around 2pm or 3pm.
[Matthew 26:20 KJV] "Now when the even was come, he sat down
       with the twelve."
[Matthew 26:21 KJV] "And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say
unto you, that one of you shall betray me.".........This is
WEDNESDAY evening Nissan 14th evening. This is "the last supper"
There is debate as to whether they ate the Passover meal on
Wednesday before nightfall or after nightfall, which would be
Thursday; a Jewish day ends at evening, which is the start of
the next day, which in this case would be Thursday. I think they
ate the passover meal Wednesday night, which is Thursday
morning, In Exodus 12:8 God instructed Israel to eat the
       passover lamb at night.
[Matthew 26:34 KJV] "Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto
thee, That this night, before the **** crow, thou shalt deny me
       thrice."
[Mark 14:30 KJV] "And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto
thee, That this day, [even] in this night, before the **** crow
twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.".........I think we are now
into THURSDAY. Thursday would have started when Wednesday
evening ended, which coincided with the Passover meal.
[Matthew 26:36 KJV] "Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place
called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here,
while I go and pray yonder."......This is THURSDAY
[Matthew 26:57 KJV] "And they that had laid hold on Jesus led
[him] away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and
       the elders were assembled."
[Luke 22:66 KJV] "And as soon as it was day, the elders of the
people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and
led him into their council, saying,"
[Luke 22:67 KJV] "Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto
them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:"...........This is
       THURSDAY morning
[Matthew 27:1 KJV] "When the morning was come, all the chief
priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to
       put him to death:"
[Matthew 27:2 KJV] "And when they had bound him, they led [him]
away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the
       governor."......this is THURSDAY morning
[Matthew 27:15 KJV] "Now at [that] feast the governor was wont
to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would."
[Mark 15:6 KJV] "Now at [that] feast he released unto them one
       prisoner, whomsoever they desired."
[John 18:39 KJV] "But ye have a custom, that I should release
unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release
unto you the King of the Jews?"........The timeframe is still
       THURSDAY.
[Matthew 27:35 KJV] "And they crucified him, and parted his
garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was
spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and
upon my vesture did they cast lots."
[Mark 15:25 KJV] "And it was the third hour, and they crucified
       him.".......This is THURSDAY at 9am
[Matthew 27:45 KJV] "Now from the sixth hour there was darkness
over all the land unto the ninth hour."........This is noon on
       THURSDAY
[Matthew 27:46 KJV] "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a
loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say,
My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"........This is 3pm
       on THURSDAY
[Matthew 27:50 KJV] "Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud
voice, yielded up the ghost."........THURSDAY around 3pm
[Matthew 27:57 KJV] "When the even was come, there came a rich
man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus'
       disciple:"
[Matthew 27:58 KJV] "He went to Pilate, and begged the body of
Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered."
[Matthew 27:59 KJV] "And when Joseph had taken the body, he
wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,"
[Matthew 27:60 KJV] "And laid it in his own new tomb, which he
had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the
door of the sepulchre, and departed."
[Matthew 27:61 KJV] "And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other
Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre."
[Mark 15:42 KJV] "And now when the even was come, because it was
the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,"
[Luke 23:54 KJV] "And that day was the preparation, and the
       sabbath drew on."
[Luke 23:56 KJV] "And they returned, and prepared spices and
ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the
commandment."...........It is now FRIDAY, the day of preparation
for the Saturday sabbath. Preparation day for the Jews started
the day before the sabbath, starting the end of Thursday at
night, which was the beginning of Friday. It ended Friday night.
John says in John 19:31 that the Saturday sabbath was a high
       day,
[Matthew 27:62 KJV] "Now the next day, that followed the day of
the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together
unto Pilate,"...........The day of preparation would be FRIDAY,
the next day that followed FRIDAY would be SATURDAY.
[John 19:42 KJV] "There laid they Jesus therefore because of the
Jews' preparation [day]; for the sepulchre was nigh at
hand."..........The preparation day was FRIDAY. The next day
that followed the preparation day would be SATURDAY.
[Matthew 27:66 KJV] "So they went, and made the sepulchre sure,
sealing the stone, and setting a watch."........this is SATURDAY
[Matthew 28:1 KJV] "In the end of the sabbath, as it began to
dawn toward the first [day] of the week, came Mary Magdalene and
the other Mary to see the sepulchre."........in the end of the
Saturday sabbath, as it began to be dawn toward the first day of
       the week would be SUNDAY.
[Mark 16:1 KJV] "And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene,
and Mary the [mother] of James, and Salome, had bought sweet
spices, that they might come and anoint him."
[Mark 16:2 KJV] "And very early in the morning the first [day]
of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the
       sun."
[Luke 24:1 KJV] "Now upon the first [day] of the week, very
early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the
spices which they had prepared, and certain [others] with them."
[John 20:1 KJV] "The first [day] of the week cometh Mary
Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and
seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre."........They came
to an empty tomb early morning SUNDAY.
[Mark 16:9 KJV] "Now when [Jesus] was risen early the first
[day] of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of
whom he had cast seven devils."........Jesus rose early morning
       on SUNDAY.
[John 20:19 KJV] "Then the same day at evening, being the first
[day] of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples
were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the
midst, and saith unto them, Peace [be] unto you."........Jesus
appeared to the disciples on SUNDAY evening.
