       SOME GOOD FRIDAY CONSIDERATIONS
By: doug Date: March 12, 2026, 9:27 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I posted how Christ wasn't crucified on "Good Friday" as church
tradition teaches; Christ was crucified on a Thursday.
Here are excerpts from an article on Good Friday:
Good Friday falls during Holy Week, which is timed according to
the spring equinox. The equinox — when day and night are
perfectly balanced — was a sacred period for pagans, marking the
official arrival of spring. Ancient Europeans and Middle
Easterners alike held festivals at this time, celebrating the
Earth’s renewal and the return of the sun’s strength.
The early Church had a cunning strategy for converting pagans:
adapt rather than abolish. They overlaid Christian meanings onto
existing festivals, rituals, and stories to make the transition
smoother for converts. Good Friday is part of that tapestry,
intertwined with older, earthier rhythms of life and death.
Upon reflection I ended up thinking of Good Friday the same way
I think of Christmas. Christmas has pagan roots, but I don't
participate in pagan beliefs by celebrating Christmas. During
Christmas, as well as Good Friday Christ is proclaimed.
I included the excerpt of the article to show that that Good
Friday may not be a Biblical holiday.
The main point to consider is it Biblical to propagate Good
Friday as the day Christ was crucified,
[Genesis 1:5 KJV] "And God called the light Day, and the
darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were
       the first day."
[Genesis 1:8 KJV] "And God called the firmament Heaven. And the
evening and the morning were the second day.".........For Israel
a day starts at evening and continues thru daylight. At the end
of daylight, evening starts the next day.
[Matthew 12:40 KJV] "For as Jonas was three days and three
nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three
days and three nights in the heart of the
earth.".............Jesus said he would be in the tomb three
       days and three nights.
[Matthew 17:23 KJV] "And they shall kill him, and the third day
he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding
sorry."............Jesus said he would rise the third day.
Before we proceed how do we know that our Friday corresponds to
the same day as the Jews. For the Jews Friday is the sixth day
of the week, Saturday the seventh and Sunday the first day of
       the week (Matthew 28:1).
Now let's see if a Friday crucifixion adheres to Jesus being in
the tomb three days and three nights.
Thursday evening thru daytime is Friday, Christ is said to be
crucified during the daytime hours of Friday. Jesus is in the
grave 3PM. Jesus is the grave ONE DAY, but no night. This is DAY
       ONE.
Friday evening thru daytime is Saturday the FIRST NIGHT and the
       SECOND DAY in the grave.
Saturday evening thru daytime is Sunday the SECOND NIGHT
This is only TWO DAYS and TWO NIGHTS
Jesus could not have been crucified on Friday.
