BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF CHRIST

[Mark 1:4 KJV] "John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach
the baptism of repentance for the remission of
sins."...........John preached water baptism for Israel to be
cleansed from sin to enter the earthly kingdom. Believing Israel
would be a nation of priests and would have to be clean to
become priests. The office of the priesthood demanded the
washing of water.......[Exodus 29:4 KJV] "And Aaron and his sons
thou shalt bring unto the door of the tabernacle of the
congregation, and shalt wash them with water."........John did
not baptize in the name of Jesus.
[John 1:31 KJV] "And I knew him not: but that he should be made
manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with
water."............John came to make manifest the Lord Jesus
coming to Israel. When John baptized the Lord Jesus, this is
when God the Father told Israel Jesus was his Son, and Jesus was
made known to Israel.........[Matthew 3:16 KJV] "And Jesus, when
he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo,
the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God
descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:"
[Matthew 3:17 KJV] "And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is
my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
[Acts 2:38 KJV] "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be
baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy
Ghost."........Peter preached to be baptized in the name of
Jesus Christ. The name of Christ was to be preached because it
was now revealed that salvation was by his name, as can be seen
in this verse........[John 20:31 KJV] "But these are written,
that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God;
and that believing ye might have life through his name."
There were contentions in the Corinthian church over who
baptized the members of this church. Peter was baptizing in the
name of Christ, and Paul made it clear that he didn't want some
to say he baptized in his own name.........[1 Corinthians 1:13
KJV] "Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye
baptized in the name of Paul?"
[1 Corinthians 1:14 KJV] "I thank God that I baptized none of
you, but Crispus and Gaius;"
[1 Corinthians 1:15 KJV] "Lest any should say that I had
baptized in mine own name.".........Paul made it clear he was
not sent to baptize..........[1 Corinthians 1:17 KJV] "For
Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not
with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of
none effect.".........Paul, unlike John the Baptist, was not
sent to make known Jesus as their coming messiah. Paul was to
sent to preach the gospel of Christ and salvation by the cross.
