WATER BAPTISM DISPUTES

In churches there is a lot of dispute over water baptism. Some
sprinkle and some immerse. What does scripture say in this
regard?
[Luke 7:24 KJV] "And when the messengers of John were departed,
he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye
out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the
wind?"..........John water baptized by sprinkling water off of a
water soaked reed. John would be hard pressed to immerse all of
repentant Israel. There is a precedent in scripture of
sprinkling........[Exodus 24:6 KJV] "And Moses took half of the
blood, and put [it] in basons; and half of the blood he
sprinkled on the altar."
[Matthew 3:16 KJV] "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up
straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened
unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove,
and lighting upon him:".........some justify water immersion
based on this passage. Jesus "went up" out of the water verifies
he was immersed in water. It could be that he was standing in
the water when sprinkled by John, and never having been
immersed, walked onto dry ground.
