       FOR WE ARE DEAD IN CHRIST

       [COLOSSIANS 3:3-7 KJV] 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid
       with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, [who is] our life, shall
       appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 5 Mortify
       therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication,
       uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and
       covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things' sake the
       wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7 In the
       which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
       We in the body of Christ are told to mortify, put to death, our
       fleshly members because our life is hid with Christ. We are to
       look not on our earthly life, but our life with Christ. We are
       to look to when we will appear in glory.
       The following passages reflect this as well. The works of the
       flesh should be mortified because we are dead to that life, We
       are to know that we are dead to the flesh and have a new glory
       in Christ:
       [1CORINTHIANS 6:9-11 KJV] 9 Know ye not that the unrighteous
       shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither
       fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor
       abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor
       covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall
       inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye
       are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the
       name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
       [GALATIONS 5:19-21 KJV] 19 Now the works of the flesh are
       manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness,
       lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance,
       emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings,
       murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I
       tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that
       they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
