Fear of Death…
Hebrews 2:14-18 is a discussion of why Jesus the Christ was
made fully man. In the discussion we see that He was made fully
man so that He could break the bondage man has as a result of
the fear of death. Satan held the power of death. Jesus, by
becoming fully human was able to break that power by being
tempted and yet being without sin. This power over death means
that we no longer need to fear death thus setting the captor
free from the bondage of fear over death. Jesus is the power we
need to break the hold of death that Satan holds over the world.
(John 1:14; I Corinthians 15:54-57; II Timothy 1:10; Matthew
4:16)
Throughout scripture we see the common thread of fear of death.
It is an all too common trait among mankind to fear death and
in that fear we are held captive. (Hebrews 2:14-15; Psalms
55:4-5; Psalms 23; II Samuel 22:5-6; Psalms 18:4) Instead of
fear of death we need to fear the Living God who has authority
even over death and the grave. (Proverbs 14:27; Proverbs 13:14;
Proverbs 19:23; Proverbs 11:19) Death is found in sin and life
is found in righteousness. (Romans 6:23; James 1:15; Proverbs
1:18; Proverbs 12:28; Proverbs 21:16)
I don't know if I shared this already. I can't remember, thanks
to short term memory loss. Anyway....I used to fear death till I
was so close to death that I could no longer even feel my body,
couldn't hear the paramedics very well, the room seemed to just
disappear and became foggy looking. My blood pressure has
plummeted. But at that point, all I could feel and think about
was God's love and I felt his love so strongly and I just felt
wonderful. It's hard to describe and put into words. And I had a
sense of someone or some place that I was wanting to move toward
away from where I was in the bed. And then ....the paramedics
were screaming at me and I felt so sad that they brought me back
away from where I almost went to. I was so sad. That was the
best feeling I've ever had in my life. I guess the point I'm
trying to make is that it was all about God's love and letting
me know that he was with me even then and I felt so comforted
and I wasn't afraid. That experience really changed my view
about death.

Hey Lori,
I'm sorry it took me so long to post, but I've been more than
swamped, lately. I can't seem to keep up with the email, among
other things. Otherwise, I would be posting here a lot!
It would be nice if you put a paragraph spacing between the
paragraphs in your posts. It's pretty hard to read otherwise,
to be honest. Don't worry though. I think that it is a
wonderful choice to have you as an Administrator here. You
surely picked an appropriate and needed subject to write about.
Satan is the pits, in the bottomless pit to boot!
It's been a very helpful topic to me and surely others. I can
imagine how very difficult it was writing your posts every day.
I remember what it was like for me on TOL with my creation
thread.
I hope that everything is going great for you today and through
the weekend! Well, I would say, God Bless You, but He already
does. May Jesus continue to fill your heart with the Word and
Love!!
A Prayer For You Goes Upwards,
Michael

This is just one of many studies that God has led me to when He
called me to study Biblical Love. I purpose to back up
everything with at least 2 or more passages so that we can see a
consistency in scripture. In essence using scripture to
interpret scripture. I also purpose to make it a guided bible
study since that is what God has led me to. I am not sure what
all God wants to do with them, but I am doing my best to be
faithful to Him and allow Him to do with that whatever He wants.

Howdy Lori!! It's difficult to realize how much work goes into
each of your posts. Yes, it'd be interesting to see what your
next topic will be. You are helping God and doing good works
with your life. I was helped by some of your posts, and that is
pretty good. Well, I could write more but I've got to get going
and have Dinner. Make your weekend a blast and enjoy yourself!

I was thinking about starting a topic about how God expresses
His Love towards us...I fear that my study would be a bit much
even broken down but we could still talk about all the ways He
reveals His Love towards us. I think I found 13 different
expressions of that Love. Maybe Mon. so that I don't just start
something then am gone for a day.

Dear Lori,
It would be a very popular Thread here. Perhaps you will have
the largest Thread here ever. I mean, think of all of the
members sharing how they feel about God's Existence and His
Glory, & gifts, etc. I can't wait until you do it. It will be
nice to talk about God and Jesus, now that we're done with
Satan. Oh, the things that I could tell you. But I won't for
now.
It sounds like a hefty job to do, but just ask God to help you.
Your guardian angel will guide you, I trust. I can't wait for
it. Start it ASAP. It will be a spectacular Thread.
I'm very sorry to be so late replying back to this Thread, but
I've been inundated with email lately and my website has been
breaking records. Plus, I have tons of chores to do and they
have to come first. Things have got to be done in and around
the house. A real lack of choice!
Much Love Always, Dear Lady!!
Michael

Lori, I couldn't find Psalm 7:18....

Satan filling their hearts with lying to the Holy Spirit. I
have heard many people point out that they were lying to the
Holy Spirit which was their downfall and in the account Peter
points out that they lied to the Holy Spirit and not to man.
What of Satan’s scheme here? Satan filled their hearts to lie
to the Holy Spirit. John 8:44 tells us that Satan is a liar and
has been a liar from the beginning. If we look at Genesis we
see that he lied to Eve. Throughout scripture we see this
repeated Satan is a liar. When he tries to put lies in our
heart it is a scheme of his for the purpose of separating us
from God. Let us go back for a moment to Judas Iscariot John
13:2 (HCSB) Now by the time of supper, the Devil had already put
it into the heart of Judas, Simon Iscariot's son, to betray Him.
Before Satan entered Judas, he had already planted the seeds of
betrayal in his heart.
> The first thing we need to understand about this passage in
Acts is that Satan planted the lies in the heart. Scripture
tells us to guard our hearts, to protect them diligently.
(Proverbs 4:23-24) We are to allow God to create a clean heart
where we once had a sinful one. (Psalms 51:10) We are to store
heavenly treasures not earthly treasures in our hearts. (Luke
6:45) It is with trust in God and our hearts find peace and
protection. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Allowing God to direct us,
(Proverbs 23:19) and not allow our hearts to forget what God has
done and who He is. (Deuteronomy 4:9) We are to commit our ways
to God, (Psalms 37:5; Proverbs 16:3) allow ourselves to be
teachable, (Psalms 22:19) walk in God’s wisdom with trust,
(Proverbs 28:26) without being anxious. (Philippians 4:6) When
we fill our hearts with God and guard them diligently Satan
doesn’t have an opportunity to fill our hearts with lies.
> Moving through Acts 5 we see Peter saying to Sapphira that
they tested the Spirit of the Lord. They tested God. In the
temptations of Christ we see that we are not to test God so I
thought it would be interesting to look at some of the ways the
Bible talks about that God has been tested by people.

[/quote]thanks for pointing that out, as I said none of this has
been edited yet...the verse should be Psalms 78:18 They
deliberately tested God, demanding the food they craved.
