Idleness…
Idleness can be used by Satan to draw us away from God. We are
not to be idle but rather we are to keep busy doing the work of
God.  Idleness leads to sin. (I Timothy 5:15; Proverbs 10:4;
Proverbs 31:27; I Timothy 5:13; II Timothy 3:6) We are in fact
suppose to be busy doing the work of God. (II Thessalonians
3:11-12; Ephesians 4:28; Proverbs 21:26; Acts 20:35; I
Corinthians 4:112; II Thessalonians 3:11) When we fail to work
in this way not only does it give Satan an opportunity to draw
us away but we become useless and unfruitful in our knowledge of
God. (II Peter 1:8)
Christ Himself left an example of being busy rather than idle.
(Luke 2:49; John 4:34; John 5:36; Psalms 40:8; John 17:4)
Christ had a job to do and He did it to the glory of God.
Likewise we have been given by God a job to do. (Ephesians 2:10)
These good works that we were created for keep us from being
idle and thus falling into one of the traps of Satan as well as
pleasing our Father. (Matthew 5:16) We are to clothe ourselves
in good works, (I Timothy 2:9-11) as well as being known for our
good works. (I Timothy 5:10) Our lives should be such that our
good works are obvious to the world. (I Timothy 5:25; I Peter
2:12) We are to be rich in good works. (I Timothy 6:18) Our
lives are to be an example of good works. (Titus 2:7) We should
be eager to do good works, (Titus 2:14) devoted to good works,
(Titus 3:8; Titus 3:14) as well as promote good works. (Hebrews
10:24) Those who do good works are blessed. (James 1:25) In
fact, good works are an expression of our faith. (James 2:14-26)

Lori, thanks for your hard work about Satan.
It surely helps others who read it know who they're fighting
against. You're right again!
I do also realize how important "works" are! I am very
appreciative of those Scriptures you found that deals with the
subject. Check out Rev. 20:13KJV. God judges the remaining
souls by their works, even those who were in the sea, in death,
and hell.
What do you think about the Return of Jesus Christ being
imminently soon? It is something that I suppose that most
people ponder these days.

I don't think about His second coming as much as most it would
seem. Some time ago I came across Amos 5:18 Woe unto you that
desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day
of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
That passage kind of compels me to focus on the hear and now and
doing what God has given me to do now rather than focus too much
on His return. Nonetheless, I do believe that His return is
close at hand and I see the signs....so "Even so come Lord
Jesus." How awesome to be one of those that witness that
coming! (Rev. 22:20)

Agents for Destruction…
Revelations 2:9-10 tells us of those who serve Satan even if
they don’t realize they are doing so. These agents of Satan are
doing his work, his will, a will that seeks to destroy. In
verse 9 we see that this destruction sometimes comes in the form
of slander. Slander is defined as an untruth that is used to
hurt someone's reputation. Slander does harm, thus it is not
Love. It is a tool of Satan and should never happen in the body
of believers known as the Church. In fact, I was surprised by
how many passages teach that we should not slander one another
but even the angels refrain from slandering the demons. We
should take a lesson from the angels if nothing else. (II Peter
2:11)
Leviticus equates slander to putting a neighbor's life in
jeopardy. (Leviticus 19:16) Several passages equate not
slandering others with being in God’s presence. (Psalms 15;
Romans 1:29-31; Psalm 101:5) Slander is an evil that is
comparable to taking one’s blood. (Psalms 50:19-21; Lamentations
3:62; Ezekiel 22:9) The slanderer is said to be arrogant (Psalms
119:78) and they should not be tolerated in the midst of
believers. (Psalms 140:11) Those who slander are said to be
fools. (Proverbs 10:18) Even in the workplace slander happens,
(Proverbs 30:10) Jeremiah 6:28 says that all are slanderers. It
is not a victimless sin. Even friends will slander friends.
(Jeremiah 9:4) It is a sin of Israel. (Ezekiel 36:2-4) Paul
even fears that he will find slanderers in the body of
believers. It is a widespread problem that Satan enjoys. (II
Corinthians 12:20; Titus 2:3-5) Wives are not to slander, (I
Thessalonians 3:11) but it isn’t just a wife problem it is a
people problem. (II Timothy 3:3) We should never be satisfied
with slander. (III John 1:10) Often times we are slandered for
doing what is right or good. (Luke 6:22; Acts 19:9; Romans 3:8;
Romans 14:15-17; I Corinthians 10:30) Evil things we are told
not to do also lead us to slander. (I Thessalonians 6:4) When
we face slander we need to respond graciously, (I Corinthians
4:13) endure through the slander, (II Corinthians 6:7-9) we are
to remove slander from our lives, (Ephesians 4:31; Colossians
3:8; Titus 3:1-3; I Peter 2:1; I Peter 4:4)
The other part of this passage talks about how Satan uses
persecution to attack the faithful believers. (Revelations
12:13) Again he uses agents to do his bidding and Paul at one
point in his life was participating in this persecution of the
believers. (Acts 22:3-5; I Corinthians 15:9; Galatians 1:13;
Galatians 1:23) We often think that persecution is only about
martyrdom but it far exceeds that. Even Job felt persecuted by
God. (Job 19:22) II Timothy 3:12 tells us that all who follow
Christ will be persecuted. Psalms 119:86 talks about being
persecuted with lies, lies like the slander we just talked
about. Persecution comes to the believer because of hate,
(Deuteronomy 30:7) sometimes the persecution comes without cause
of any kind. (Psalms 119:161) In fact, when the persecution
comes because we are sharing the gospel we are to continue on.
(Matthew 10:23) God sends prophets and apostles to share the
good news even though He knows they will be persecuted which
speaks to how important sharing the gospel really is. (Luke
11:49; Luke 21:12) Unfortunately persecution is passed down
throughout the generations. (Acts 7:52) The persecution is
really a battle between the man born only of the flesh and the
man born of the spirit. (Galatians 4:21-31; Galatians 5:11;
Galatians 6:12) What comfort then can we find in moments of
persecution that will keep us faithful to God? We can know that
if we are persecuted for Christ we are blessed. (Matthew
5:10-11) We know that our reward is yet to come. (Matthew 5:12)
We know that we are not greater than Christ and since He was
persecuted we will be too, it is to share in His sufferings.
(John 15:20) We take comfort in knowing that though we have
been persecuted we have not been abandoned. (II Corinthians 4:9)
We also know that God dislikes persecution. (I Thessalonians
2:15-16) When we are persecuted it is important to remember
these truths but it is equally important to endure the
persecution (I Corinthians 4:12) as well as praying for those
that are persecuting us. (Matthew 5:44)

and hell.
What do you think about the Return of Jesus Christ being
imminently soon? It is something that I suppose that most
people ponder these days.
great verse...thanks...
Jesus." How awesome to be one of those that witness that
coming! (Rev. 22:20)

Lori, I am trying to quit saying 'hon,' but
it's taking a while. I slip and do it. I don't want to offend
anyone.
I do not desire the day of the Lord, except that it has to
happen first before Jesus will return. I have studied the
subject quite a bit and I am looking forward to leaving the
Earth and going to Heaven. It will be hard when the Apocalypse
happens, but many have to make it through it.
I am looking forward to Satan getting bound by chains and cast
back into hell. This Earth will be a wonderful place to live
once everyone knows that no evil will be allowed by the Lord,
and the meek shall live in peace for 1,000 years and even more.
Godspeed, Jesus!!
no offense and I was not trying to assert that you were
desiring the day of the Lord just answering the question based
on what God has shown me, nothing more or less.
Funny story...(long story) because of some of our youngest sons
experiences he is running from God at the moment and calls
himself an agnostic. One day I asked him what he would do if
his dad and I were raptured (just talking not opening debate
about rapture that is a different time and place and purpose
from the question asked) My agnostic son said he would find all
the money he could find in the house, find all the bibles he
could get his hands on and go out and preach the gospel to the
world. I asked him what then was holding him back and he didn't
have a good answer. (He is just angry at God right now and
where I know he is wrong and pray for him I do understand why he
feels the way he does for those who want to judge him...again
not saying you just preempting anyone who is reading and wants
to make some arguments that are not warranted)
Anyway, I found his answer interesting and challenging when it
comes to the second coming of our Lord and the shortness of the
time at hand. In fact, the shortness of the time is one of my
husbands big discussions around here.

Denial, Deceiving, Lies…
From Genesis to Revelation we see that Satan is a deceiver.
(Genesis 3:13; I Timothy 2:14; Revelation 12:9-11) He deceives
all those that listen to his lies. In fact, we are to guard
ourselves against falling prey to his lies. (II Thessalonians
2:3) We can be protected from the lies of Satan because all
belongs to God. (Job 12:16) The one person that can never be
deceived is God Himself and thus making sure that we know and
understand and are living in the power of God is imperative to
our not being deceived. (Job 13:9) It isn’t just Satan that
tries to deceive, even man tries to deceive God. (Psalms
78:35-37) Those who are honest do not deceive, (Proverbs 14:5)
in fact, it is the stupidity of fools that allows them to be
deceived. (Proverbs 14:8) We are instructed to not participate
in deceptions, (Proverbs 24:28) which includes the joking in
which one might say, “I was only joking. (Proverbs 26:19)
Sometimes prophets and diviners are doing Satan’s will by trying
to deceive others. (Jeremiah 29:8) We even sometimes deceive
ourselves with presumptions. (Jeremiah 49:16; Obadiah 1:3) We
become deceived when we don’t know scripture nor the power of
God. (Matthew 22:29; Mark 12:24) Even false prophets are among
God’s people for the purpose of deceiving all that they can.
(Matthew 24:4-5; Matthew 24:11; Mark 13:5; Luke 21:8) Some are
deceived into thinking that God is only the God of heaven and
not of our daily lives. (Mark 12:27) Our words can and often do
deceive, (Romans 3:13; Romans 16:18) but sin also deceives with
its temptations and empty promises. (Romans 7:11) We deceive
ourselves (I Corinthians 3:18) sometimes through justifications
for our sins. We are warned not to be deceived about who is and
who is not saved. Something our current world seems to be
determined not to believe. (I Corinthians 6:9) Even the company
you keep can be used to deceive you. (I Corinthians 15:33)
There are sometimes whole ministries that deceive. (II
Corinthians 6:3-13) In these deceptions we are seduced to leave
the faith and our walk with Christ. (II Corinthians 11:3)
Conceit can deceive us, (Galatians 6:3) as well as what we do
can lead us to deceptions. (Galatians 6:7) When our arguments
are empty without substance we deceive, (Ephesians 5:6) as do
persuasive arguments. (Colossians 2:4) Some set out with the
intent to deceive, (I Thessalonians 2:3) for some deceptions
grow, (II Timothy 3:13) but we were all deceived at one time.
(Titus 3:3) We are to guard ourselves from deception. (James
1:16) Sometimes it is the religious that deceive, (James 1:26; I
John 2:26) it is righteousness that holds truth and not
deception. (I John 3:7) Only those that confess that Jesus is
Lord are not deceived. (II John 1:7) Satan tries to deceive us
with sensual desires (Revelations 2:20) signs and wonders
(Revelation 13:14) sorcery (Revelations 18:23) and with the mark
of the beast. (Revelations 19:20) Satan is the deceiver
(Revelations 12:9; Revelations 20:10) who will even deceive the
nations. (Revelations 20:3-8) We need to be watchful, guard
against and judge those things that come into our lives to
deceive us and lead us away from Christ and the salvation He
offers to all.
