Blade, I referred to your consideration of the Alexander codex
and potential Gnostic influence on my “Version Exclusivity”
thread at TF. I would be happy if you would like to expand on
it, or to correct me if I misunderstood the position. That point
is one of the few that has been presented in favor of an
“Only-ist” view as no others have come to explain their
reasoning. Xenn has given some additional historical reasoning
behind the tradition, though he does not espouse it personally,
as far as I’m aware.

Ok cool, Kiwi (I think it was Kiwi anyway) has put forth a few
points in favor of the view as well since then. I believe he
even referenced the Alexandrian manuscripts and potential early
Gnostic influence, but you are definitely welcome to add to the
discussion. I’m behind on several threads that I’ve been
following or had started myself, so I’ll get back to it when I
can. The changes on both forums have also kind have taken some
time to re-learn how to navigate and participate the way I did
before lol.

nothing has come out about that except personal opinions. I may
have missed a few. I will still continue to read it but at this
point in time,
We can speak of the Alexandria Codicies (three of them) or the 9
different versions of the English Bibles (only one version of
the 1611 (KJV)over 400 years)or maybe Wescott/Hort, Gnostics,
Grammatical Errors in the KJV (1611 version), Tyndale, 5500
Greek manuscripts (New Testament manuscripts), The Leningrad
Codex and on and on and on.
Or we could talk about how Satan's work effect the many modern
versions and just how are they affected.
(i.e.)....Removing the deity of GOD or Jesus Christ, etc.
attacking Salvation, Virgin Birth, atonement, resurrection of
Christ, God as Man, contradictions, doubting God's WORD, etc.
etc. etc.
Changing words, deleting words, deleting last twelve verses of
Mark,etc.
Jon, I could go on and on...... It is a big subject.
The Bottom line is that Book we call the Holy Bible forms our
opinion and understanding of God, Trinity, Jesus Christ,,
prophecies,salvation, grace, etc. etc. etc.
Even our Hermeneutics is somewhat suggested by the Bible.
Thus it is important to have the best version available and Not
one that changes according to societies needs. Do they or will
they change the lord's prayer in later versions? Odds are one of
them will.It is only a matter of time.
So Jon, where do we go from here is your choice? I don't think
rehashing VE post would help any but if there is something
specific, we can go there.

versions of the original KJV 1611 mainly because of the Majesty
of the Ol'English Language.

Thanks Blade, it’s a subject that invites personal opinion and
asks why we come to the decision to use only one version of the
Bible solely or not (over all others). I wanted to learn about
some of the factors that influence the decision to be “V.E.” or
not.
Honestly, I’d like to start with your personal opinion... at
least in the beginning. What I mean by that is, “What factored
into your original decision to be KJV-Only?” We can speak to all
of the other points later, we can discuss the subject as in
depth as you would like.
One reason that I’m personally not a proponent of “V.E.”, Is
that I have little, to no, knowledge of by whom and under what
conditions any version was translated into English. Now, I am
currently reading a book on the history of the biblical canon
and am learning a little about that.

You’re welcome to expand on the newer versions of the KJV if
you’d like, Blade.
How close to the original 1611 is the version you use, and are
the differences between the two versions significant, in your
opinion?
Does the version you use contain any of the Apocryphal writings
(I understand this to mean books that are outside of the 66 book
canon that most outside of theological study are unaware of).

[/quote]Good to hear Jon and I seek Blade's opinion on many
things. For me, it was the simplicity of the KJV that sold me.
It flowed as poetry. I didn't find out until AFTER I chose the
KJV as my of choice just exactly how accurate it is. I think you
would enjoy the video in my Bible Audio Books threads here. Old
and New Testament called "The History of The Bible". I posted
that excellent video at the end of both threads here. I learned
a great deal about the Bible, the history and translations from
that vid. Listen to it while you do other things online. Oh
wait, you're limited to a phone only. So sad.
