       Faith is a gift from God. Even though we are all given faith, I
       especially appreciate the gift of faith because it has helped me
       through so many trials and tribulations.
       As for the spiritual gifts that you are referring to, I believe
       that I have discernment of spirits.

       I think miracles of all types big and small happen a lot and a
       lot more than anyone would like to acknowledge except for those
       that belief, have faith, and know God still performs them.    I
       have witnessed a few of them in my life myself and have been
       blessed enough to receive the benefits of one of two.
       I am curious how you both are defining discernment.
       At times I wonder if I have a gift, spiritual or otherwise.
       Then there is the visions I have on occasions that can only be
       described are interaction with a spiritual being.   A whole
       nother story in and of itself.

       [/quote]I would describe discernment in two different ways, 1.
       the ability to know the difference between what is spiritual and
       worldly, as in God writes it on our hearts.  2. the other is
       about what spiritual gifts others have or don't have.  Both are
       about listening to the HS.
       As to visions, for lack of a better word, I have had them
       too...another long story that would surely be used as a personal
       attack if I shared it.

       I have rarely shared the vision for the same reason, not on here
       mind you as I have never been really attacked on this forum,
       however, TF and others I would be burnt at the stake.  I have an
       older retire Catholic Priest that is very forward-thinking I
       have shared them with and talked them through, so I do have that
       outlet and I have my spouse.
       I would say I have discernment, but never realized that is what
       discernment can be or is

       There are so many things that we as Christians need to have
       discernment about and often the LORD will show us exactly what
       that means. We shouldn't ignore it or be too afraid to face it.
       It may not be easy to endure. But we learn from it and we need
       to. Then we shouldn't keep silent about what we've learned but
       we should tell others about it.

       There are times that we just need to laugh and cry at the same
       time...in relation to my visions, I was asked once to use that
       knowledge and I did as I was asked.  When speaking of what came
       from it, I was accused of living in search of what the vision
       was about...I was asked to do it, and when I did I was the
       problem yet again...Satan has no shortage of accusations against
       the "brethren" which is why encouragement is so vital to the
       true believers.

       Encouragement can be in very short supply at times.
       My first career was in the US Army.  Did and saw things that
       made me wonder about humankind.   My second career was working
       for USCIS, immigration if you will.  almost 20 yrs there after a
       20 year Army Career.   In both of those careers, I had a ton of
       encouragement and support and people willing to talk to me.
       Now I say I am going to follow my faith in my third life's
       career and everything vanished for support, help, and
       encouragement.  It is like I became diseased or something.  My
       wife of course is supportive as far as her comfort level allows,
       my children all question me.  Some ask if I am dying and I am
       trying to make amends among many other questions of disbelief.
       The general consensus has been how can someone who has been and
       done what you have done in life just suddenly change course and
       be something we have never seen you exhibit?   My answer is you
       all never knew what was in the heart mind and soul.

       Its amazing how the family looks at you (and me) with differing
       eyes..because, I suddenly changed course as well. The effects
       like your family have been pretty much the same...
