Scripture says that all true believers are the body...some are
gifted with one thing while others are gifted with another. So
I am curious what spiritual gifts we have here on the forum and
how do you know that is your spiritual gift...while we are
talking about it, how do you think you can live in that gift
       here on the forum?

       LORI...long time no hearest from....
I am pretty sure the gifts that are most spoken of today died
out with the Apostles. Of course there could always be an
       exception here and there.
Yet, each of us has a gift of sorts...Take those children who at
an early age can play an instrument like they had been playing
       it for fifty years.
My gift is finding underground water with only a peach tree
limb. Yet, I have only used this gift only two times in my
lifetime....I don' think it would have any usefulness here in
       the forum.
       What is your gift????

I was referring to the gifts listen in scripture, like teaching,
giving, hospitality, preaching, etc. etc. etc.
I have been told I have the gift of teaching, though that was
from a professor when I was finishing my elementary education
training and then again when I was helping my husband in a coed
sunday school. I have had a lot of people tell me I have the
gift of encouragement. As much as I would like the gift of
giving, I don't have that gift. Some think I have the gift of
study, though I know you would baulk at all of these.

Lori, I too have been told I have a gift of teaching, but alas
the real gift I need to go with that is listening. I struggle
with this as I still struggle with my ego of believing I am
right. This makes a poor teacher, as a good teacher, as you
have seen in the Bible is also one that learns as well. I
would say from my interaction on the forums with you, that your
professor is right about you as I have seen you explain and
teach but also take what is said, listening and work with that
       and through that.
Blade makes that most valid of points, we all have been granted
gifts from the Holy Father, most will go through life and never
discover them. Those that do, I hope and prayer use those
gifts, and better yet use them in a way to glorify the Holy
Father. But I am like Blade, I think the big gifts died out
with the apostles. Even if someone was gift what Peter and the
rest were and Paul later, they would be put in an institution
       and labeled nuts.
But that is just my humble viewpoint on it.

Maybe it depends on what one means by the bigger gifts? For
example, the gift of elder...scripture gives specific criteria
for elders, are we to assume that elders are no longer called
       and equipped by God?
I believe without question that God gifts us to do whatever He
       asks of us.

I guess I was vague, I apologize. I was thinking of the ability
to perform miracles and some of the more of the gifts in the
       genre.

That is what I thought, I think those are the gifts Blade was
referring to as well. I would be interested in a thread on why
you believe those gifts have ceased, it would be interesting,
but honestly, I am still gun shy as to people reading into my
posts what is not there. So much so that I even considered not
posting anything in the prayer thread.

I too have faced so heated disagreeable discussions when I have
taken a less than mainstream viewpoint. Whether it is being
more moderate to liberal in religion and moderate in politics.
I am not sure, going full circle if the miracles as I was
thinking of, even if they do happen, they go unnoticed as the
world is so full of distraction and so full of doubt, anger and
mistrust that we will rarely if ever know if they are happening
in this time period. Sadly it is the problem all religions are
suffering through during this epoch in history/time.
I think the thread would be interesting but it would be
short-lived and would most like spiral out of control as each
person's passion would eventually take control. That is also a
sad statement that civil debate is close to non-existent
       anymore.

Just a quick note...personally I am not sure the "miracles" have
ceased being that I have seen and experienced miracles, like
being hit by a train (whole nother story) but I do see a change
so my curiosity is what scripture says and where those that
believe they have ceased get that from scripture....just
curiosity because I trust God with it.

Faith is a gift from God. Even though we are all given faith, I
especially appreciate the gift of faith because it has helped me
through so many trials and tribulations.
As for the spiritual gifts that you are referring to, I believe
that I have discernment of spirits.
