As Ambassadors are we helping God/Christ?
       By: guest24 Date: July 7, 2021, 8:56 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
In one of the studies I did and am presenting I pointed out that
as Ambassadors (scripture word) for Christ/God by carrying out
His command to care for the poor, we are helping God. I was
challenged because the person claimed we can't help God do
       anything.
My stand is two fold, 1. as ambassadors/slaves/servants, we are
helping the MASTER by carrying out the orders He gives and
       2. Ephesians says that the Church is the bride of Christ, a
bride, if we go back to Gen. is a helper suitable for the
man...thus the Church, true believers are helpers suitable for
       Christ.
I will entertain any comments but will only consider scriptural
arguments as a challenge to what I believe. (just for the
record) IOW's I will listen and ask questions of your theology
but if it isn't backed with scripture it will not affect my
conclusions at all and will not be considered by me to challenge
what I find in scripture, so won't even come close to changing
my mind. Scripture alone can change my mind.

To "care for the poor" means different things to different
people. How exactly does one "care for the poor"? That phrase
doesn't mean anything. Do you research and participate in a good
charity food bank? Do you donate to one? Do you provide medical
care for the poor or just your version of the Bible?
These are questions that should be examined. What is the extent
to which one "cares for the poor"? Discernment is also required
because some "poor" people are lovers of self and cause strife
as they take advantage of generous people.

[/quote]The comment was originally made in relation to Matthew
25 where we are told if we give to the least of these we are
giving to Christ. That would generally mean clothes, food,
drink, maybe even shelter. It certainly could be extended if
one had the ability to do so since it is about giving as one
would give to Christ...so maybe a better question would be,
which of the above things would you withhold from Christ?
       medical attention? food? clothing? etc.

Lori- again. If you are going to talk about me, or around me,
or whatever it is that you are doing in hopes that I will
respond so you can complain some more.......... then please do
so accurately. I said God doesn't need our help.
The exact quote was: "God has no need of your money. He has no
need of your help." Do you disagree? Do you want to argue that
assertion? How about YOU provide some scripture to support your
       contention?
If you go back to the beginning- it wasn't "God" who needed a
helper. It was Adam. Man needs help. God does not. Will
       scripture change your mind?
Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of
Eden to cultivate it and keep it. The LORD God commanded the
       man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely;
but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall
not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely
       die.”
       Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone;
I will make him a helper suitable for him.” Out of the ground
the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of
the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call
them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was
its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds
of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there
was not found a helper suitable for him. So the LORD God caused
a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took
one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.
If you serve a Master... or if you are subject to a King... or
if you simply work for your Dad and honor him... it isn't
       "helping" him. It's serving.
That's what "cultivate" means, and "keeping" means 'taking care
of.' God didn't need a helper to do any of this. He put the
man there to do it and He gave man a helper that was suitable.
I wouldn't expect you to understand what "suitable" means, but
it points in a way, to the opposite of him, like you might
consider your reflection in a mirror to be, but that's a whole
       'nuther conversation.
When you elevate that idea of a Dad, or a Master, or a King to
"The Father in Heaven" (generically- GOD) then that One has no
shortcomings. No needs. He has all the resources, all the
power, and the riches and ability and..... and everything.
There is no "need" within Him. There is no poverty, there is no
       lack.
It's us. We are the ones that rely on Him. His provisions and
promises and power. Does God work in and through us to
accomplish His purposes? Of course. Not because He needs to,
       but because He chooses to.

[member=8]Bladerunner[/member], you are the one that challenged
my comment that as ambassadors for Christ, we help Him
accomplish what He wants done...where is your rebuttal? I took
it to a new thread so we could talk about it without getting off
topic in the other thread. I said nothing about whether or not
God NEEDS us only that we help Him when we obey, you challenged
that but I see no rebuttal to what I said...Isn't this a
discussion forum? Where is your discussion on the matter?

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Here's something to nibble on... food for thought.
Does your knee "help" you? --For a time I had one knee that
would "lock out" on me. -Like it would go a little bit out of
joint when I was trying to get up from sitting on the ground,
and it would get stuck in the bent position and not straighten
out. I'd have to manipulate it into a certain position so that
it would 'pop' back into place and allow me to stand up properly
and walk again. At those times I'd say that knee was of 'no
       help' to me.
How about your hand? Is your hand a helper to you? Do you call
       it 'your helping hand?'
Or your foot? Have you ever thought or said-- wow, my foot was
such a help to me today! More likely, it's when your ears don't
hear, or your eyes don't quite see as well as they once did that
you take notice of them. You notice when "they don't do" what
       they are supposed to do.
But we don't really think of these 'body parts' as our
'helpers.' We think of them as part of us. As part of the
       body, that is "us."
So too with 'the body of Christ.' Scripture tells us that we
are part of the body of Christ, each with a specific role to
play, none any more important than any other. When each part
'plays it's part' everything functions as intended, it's only
when one part is lacking that 'trouble' occurs.... but are these
parts "helping" the body? No, not really. They are simply part
of the body. Integral to it.
Folks like to think of 'the church' as the body of Christ and
this is problematic because as institutions, the churches all
have their various troubles.... Why?-because there are various
"parts" of those bodies that are not functioning properly. The
"parts" of the body of Christ are it's members. Not helpers,
but specific people tasked with specific functions that they
either perform, or fail to perform.
When Jesus speaks about your hand or your eye causing the body
to stumble, the remedy is to cut it off, or pluck it out....
because 'the body' is better off without that particular part.
       He's talking about people.
Just some thoughts ahead of a new forum.
