The Young Jesus

I have two topics in mind. I suppose the one that intrigues me
the most is the life of Jesus between the age of 12 and the age
of 30. I believe Jesus to have been born in 3 BC, btw.
If Jesus is God as I believe, who was manifest in the flesh and
walked among us, then did he study the word of God? After all,
He is The Word !!! So when Jesus was discussing and debating in
the temple, did He already know the scriptures or when did He
begin showing signs of His holiness and as being the Son of God?
Did Jesus travel to the East and to Egypt and the Great Pyramid?
Did Jesus study all theologies and philosophies? There is a lot
to ponder and really we are left to only imagine. Thoughts?

Jesus' birth-date you spoke of is just as good as anybodies...It
is somewhere in that period of time.
Jesus was born as man. From what I read, he as GOD had to
abdicate his power during this time.....In otherwords, He had no
knowledge except what the Father gave to Him....During His
preachings, He really believed that the "Kingdom of GOD" would
come down if only the Jews would accept Him. Yet, if He had His
usual knowledge, he would have known that would have been
impossible.
In Mark 13:32.."But of that day and that hour knoweth no man,
no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the
Father."

Here we see another glimmer that Jesus was not aware of what was
to happen. In Act 1:6, the apostles ask Him "When they
therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord,
wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?"
Yet, in Acts 1:7.."And he said unto them, It is not
for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath
put in his own power."
Here Jesus Knew what was going to happen and would not say.
There is many places that could be used to show that Jesus as a
Man even up to His Death did not know what really was going to
happen.
Hope this helps.

The Gospels of Jesus' Childhood
After the nativity stories in Matthew and Luke, the canonical
gospels have precious little to say about the life of Jesus
between his birth and the beginning of his public ministry as an
adult. The infancy gospel of James and the infancy gospel of
Thomas (not to be confused with the more important sayings
gospel of Thomas) attempted to fill in some of the details with
mixed results.
Although both texts were left out of the New Testament, their
narratives have had a significant influence on Christian
tradition and doctrine and episodes from these apocryphal
sources even found their way into the Quran. John Hamer of
Toronto Centre Place will review both texts in light of our
sources for these “lost years” of Jesus’ life.
Keywords relevant to this lecture: Infancy Gospels, Infancy
Gospel of Thomas, Childhood of Jesus, Apocrypha, Apocryphal
Gospel, Christianity lecture, religion lecture, religious
studies, Judaism lecture, biblical scholarship.
