define what you consider 'discourse' to be? Mark
I can think of four or five but that is a lot of scripture.

Fair question. The five long speeches of jesus in the new
testament are considered academically by Christian scholars to
be the cornerstone of the teachings of Jesus that are found in
       the Canonical books.
So based on that discourse would mean speech.

The five discourses as scholars discuss and teach them are all
       in the book of Matthew.
Discourse 1 The Sermon on the mount Matthew 5-7
Discourse 2 The Commissioning of the Twelve Apostles Matthew
       10
Discourse 3 The Teaching in parables Matthew 13
Discourse 4 The talking of the Church (Community discourse)
       Matthew 18
Discourse 5 The talking of the End of the Age Matthew 23-25
There are many others but in most of the school of Christian
religion these five are grouped together as his 5 discourses.
       So thought, discussion or other

Lets start with a posting of Matthew 10 (KJV) I chose the KJV
first for my brothers and sisters on here that prefer it and for
       its eloquence.
       10:1
gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and
to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
       10:2
Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the
       son of Zebedee, and John his brother;
       10:3
James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was
       Thaddaeus;
       10:4
       him.
       10:5
Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the
       Samaritans enter ye not:
       10:6
       10:7
       hand.
       10:8
devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
       10:9
       purses,
       10:10
shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

       10:11
who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.
       10:12
       10:13
but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
       10:14
when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of
       your feet.
       10:15
land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that
       city.
       10:16
be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
       10:17
       councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;
       10:18
sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.
       10:19
ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what
       ye shall speak.
       10:20
       which speaketh in you.
       10:21
the father the child: and the children shall rise up against
their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
       10:22
he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
       10:23
another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over
the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.
       10:24
       above his lord.
       10:25
and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of
the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his
       household?
       10:26
that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

       10:27
what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
       10:28
kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both
       soul and body in hell.
       10:29
shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
       10:30
       10:31
       sparrows.
       10:32
I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
       10:33
deny before my Father which is in heaven.
       10:34
not to send peace, but a sword.
       10:35
and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law
       against her mother in law.
       10:36
       10:37
of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not
       worthy of me.
       10:38
       is not worthy of me.
       10:39
his life for my sake shall find it.
       10:40
me receiveth him that sent me.
       10:41
receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous
man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous
       man's reward.
       10:42
ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily
I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

Let us break this second discourse down a little more to start
       with.
!0:1 I see this as the choosing and empowerment of the 12.
       !0:2-4 is naming the 12
10:5 to 10:15 is the giving of the apostles short term goals.
Giving them their mission if you will
10:16 to 10:25 To me reads as the persecution of the disciples
10:26-33 To me this is the have no fear, I am with you part
10:34-36 Best labeled as division within the households.
       10:37-39 Cost of discipleship
       10:40-42 Rewards
11:1 This seems to me to be the actual conclusion to chapter 10
and the second discourse, but it is also used to start chapter
       11.
A even more general break down would be
       10:1 Choosing and empower
       10:2-4 introduction of apostles
       10:5-16 Short term goal/mission
       10:17-23 Long term goals/mission
10:24-42 Characteristics and traits for all disciples to carry
out the mission Jesus charged them with.
       and again 11:1 the conclusion.
There is my first steps in breaking this discourse down and
       examining it.
Any feedback and thoughts are more than welcome

Mark, these are powerful words our Lord GOD, Jesus Christ. These
words were to only land on the minds of the Jews of Israel
during this time. Jesus truly believed the 'Kingdom of Heaven'
(millennium today) was at hand and fixing to come to pass. Yet,
while the gentiles of this period did not receive these words,
we today have access to them by design. We should consume them,
assimilate them as we should every verse of Jesus' word.
Thank you Mark for bringing this to us.
