Which is best?
By: guest24 Date: August 18, 2020, 9:39 am
---------------------------------------------------------
We have been feeling called to full-time ministry, even
preparing for it. The problem is that we can't seem to do what
we feel called to while Brian is working full time to support us
and I am unable to do many of the tasks I used to because of
health, leaving it on him to do even more of the day to day
tasks. (We personally have been knocking on doors and waiting
for God to open one, so not about us) We thought about raising
funds but find that not only difficult but more time consuming
which takes time away from ministry. We are currently working
towards a "tent-making" project which would require less work
with more financial rewards (not lots but enough) so that we
have more time for ministry.
For those who might not know tentmaking is a term taken from
Paul's making tents while doing ministry so as not to be a
burden on the church. Acts 18 (I believe is the passage)
So my question is which is better, raising money for support or
tentmaking and if you answer tentmaking, what are some of your
ideas for what makes a good tentmaking venture?
I'm still not sure what tentmaking consists of but I
think a combination of both could be possible. I'd like to hear
more details about tentmaking as it pertains to the Bible as
well.

Lori, I can't promise anything but I'd like to support you and
Chaplain Brian. I will have to wait a bit to see if I can but I
want to give you about $50 a month to start out. I have Paypal
and Cash App to send you money that way.
Let's pray about this and have faith. You can also ask for
support on Theology Forums.
Tentmaking basically means that you are supporting
yourself while doing full time ministry. Paul made tents to
support him while doing full time ministry which is where the
term comes from. It is in opposition to being "hired" by a
church or organization or raising support by going to different
churches etc. explaining your ministry and asking for donations.
we appreciate that and thank you...the day will come
(the Lord willing) when that will go a long way to helping put
the word into the hands of people who need to grow in the Lord
but don't have the current resources to do that. We envision a
ministry in which every donation goes directly to ministry not
to us so we can minister...big deal for us...one we are not
about to budge on barring something dramatic from God. So thank
you and keep praying till we are at that point. We are
currently hoping that within a year, maybe sooner we will be to
that point but that depends on how God blesses this project we
are currently working on that is intended to support us while we
do full time ministry.
