Everything's gone

Hello,
I am terribly sorry for all that has happened the past days,
though I can honestly say this is out of my control. Not only is
our board down, a few thousand IPBFree boards are down. Even
their main site (
HTML http://ipbfree.com/)
and their support forums
are 'suspended', as well are their Twitter and Facebook pages
deleted.
At first I figured we had some regular downtime: it's certainly
not the first time the board is not available for a few minutes.
After a few hours I figured this couldn't be regular down time,
as it was still not available. I also didn't have any
pre-caution in the Admin Control Panel: something I do always
get.
I researched the situation a bit and got to the conclusion
everything was deleted. And right now this still seems the case.
Below is all the information I can give you right now.
This is not a regular downtime. There appears to have been some
kind of legal problem unfold and the everything has been deleted
- iPBFree's website, all its thousands of hosted forums, and
even its Twitter and Facebook pages.
Whether this downtime is permanent, or how long it will last if
it's only temporary, I do not know.
I don't know if there's a direct way to contact them, but two of
the admins in question have posted, albeit vaguely, on their
Twitters about it in the last 24 hours.

The rumours that we had an argument or a falling out are
rubbish. We're still all friends and nobody on the team is to
blame.

It is out of our control, there is nothing we can do. It was not
something that was lead up to over months on end it happened,
suddenly and unfortunately. Also we can understand your angry we
are all in the same boat. The staff had major plans for iPBFree
and each had a starring role as did the members, all the work
that has been put in has gone, it's all gone and never coming
back, there is nothing we the staff or you the members can do to
get it back.
If we could warn you we would have done, we told you about every
bit of downtime we had, we let you know exactly what was
happening as it happened.
People such as the poster above, seem to assume we did this
because we wanted to, we didn't want our 3-5 years of work to
spiral down the toilet but look it has.
I understand your board is lost, so is everyone's there is
NOTHING we can do. No point crying over spilt milk.

Nekromantik,
Your information from an anonymous source is probably wrong. I
have seen others saying there was a staff fallout...if they had
a fallout, they would be complaining all over the place of how
bad staff members are....I have seen no such evidence of that.
"After more research I have found that they had too many DMCA
Violations"
Any proof? They have existed for a long time....ipbfree would
have been long gone if this was the case. Why is youtube.com
still up, they have a lot of DMCA issues....google images/yahoo
images, etc?
"They have been shut down because they have done nothing to stop
these forums or control/regulate them. "
Really? That is why on IPBFREE's official forums people
regularly complain their active boards have been deleted.
Source...look at the google/yahoo cache or run a search. You
would know this if you were active on their boards.
The staff members have said the situation was "out of their
control". Their support was pretty decent and reliable for many
years for many years....Maybe it was some hackers? Maybe
hardware failure? or something? Those reasons sound more legit.
The service has had it's ups and downs and has provided many
years of decent service. Pity to see them go.
I really wished they gave some kind of warning...If they had the
chance, they probably would have....
Now I have to look for a new host and start all over...
Source(s):
look at the google/yahoo cache or run a search and read the
cached contents

I understand this was a force majeure. I also understand that
there was (obviously) no way to warn us in advance. Even though
you continue avoiding any precise statements, your persistant
"We were innocent, somebody set up us the bomb!" attitude has
almost made me willing to sympathise with you guys. Almost.
What I can not, however, seem to grasp is why you iPBFree guys
haven't even BOTHERED to come up with a plausible way of
announcing the fact that all ipbfree forums are gone forever.
Beating about the bush, trying to explain how terribly
unforeseen everything has been, and doing that here - on a
stupid Yahoo answer page - doesn't quite cut it. What if the
person who initially posted the question had never bothered?
When would you have been kind enough to give us a bit of
information, or simply come out and said "Sorry guys, c'est
tout"?!
That is as unprofessional as it gets and, while I admit that the
ipbfree boards were, after all, a free service first and
foremost, the way you've acted during the last 48 hours is a
total disgrace. If your actions were a subtle hint towards us
users to start preferring paid services, I think you've made
your point perfectly clear there. From now on I'm definitely
paying - at least then I'll know who to hold accountable when
there's an unforeseen 404.
Well I certainly like this new board style. Haven't done
anything else then creating it and modifying the default board
LOL. :) This might be a temp situation, but it might also be the
true new forums. If you wish to use another host or such,
please, let me know. Though I'm starting to like this one.

Haha yes exactly. It's not like we hosted anything important
anyways. Well after a x number of days I'll start reordening the
forums, repost the lists, manage user groups, etc.

I know. I'm starting to dislike this forum as well. I might take
a look at proboards, however, are there more alternatives?
Suggestions anyone?
