I've been working on this off and on (mostly off) for two years now, and it has been in the FAQ for quite a while, so it's about time I post a working version :-) tested on SunOS 4.X... SoftList 3.0 is two things: * simple list manager - devise lists on the fly, add records and do searches on them later. Dynamic referencing allows you to execute a command that a record refers to (in a site independent way). As a example, a list of different cat breeds may contain a record on Russian Blue, and that record may refer to a gif of one or an audio file of its meow, etc. Menus are highly interactive, and a tcsh-like line editor with history is available for all fields. * Perl Shell - a perl playground. Feels much like tcsh in emacs mode. Experiment with bits of perl. Run Unix commands. Enjoy... You may need to tweak the cbreak code in utils.pl for your system. This is a sort of rushed posting, as it has been all to easy to leave this up on the shelf with a 8 month old baby daughter and a hectic work schedule (free time, what's that? :-) To those who have emailed me in the past months wondering when it'll be ready, please grab this and let me know how it goes. I wanted to get this out there - if nothing else happens, at least it may serve as a base for the efforts of others. Enjoy, and please send me patches and feedback.
