NAME
who - who is on the mesh

SYNOPSIS
     who

DESCRIPTION
Who prints one line for every node this deck has heard on the mesh:

          addr name signal age services
          3f:a1:00:12:9c:04 kingfisher 12s 9fs chat
          b2:07:5e:aa:31:88 - 147s

The columns are the node's six-byte address, the name it advertises, a
four-cell bar of received signal strength, how long ago it was last
heard, and the services it says it offers. A node that has not been
     given a name prints -.

Nodes appear here because they beacon. Every deck sends a HELLO every
half minute or so with its name and services riding along; this is the
table of the ones that arrived. A node that has just been switched on
takes a beacon interval to show up, and one that has been switched off
lingers until it ages out. The age column is what tells you which is
     which.

The names in the name column are the ones achat(1) and dial accept in
place of an address. The services are symbolic: chat means the node is
listening for conversations, 9fs means it is exporting its namespace and
can be mounted. They are hints for choosing what to dial, not a promise
-- resolution is a real 9P attach, and it can still fail.

This deck's own name is its user name, as held by /dev/factotum; write
/net/aether/self/name to change it. Names are up to fifteen characters
of lowercase letters, digits, and hyphen. This deck does not appear in
     its own roster.

Who reads the roster through the namespace, so on a deck whose
/net/aether is mounted from a gateway it shows the gateway's peers -- the
same view achat and dialing act on. Only if that path is not serving, as
during early boot, does it fall back to the local discovery table.

EXAMPLES
Find someone and talk to them:

          who
          achat kingfisher

Mount a deck that says it exports a namespace:

          who
          srv aether!kingfisher!9fs deck
          mount /srv/deck /n/deck

FILES
     /net/aether/peers
One directory per heard node, named by address.

     /net/aether/peers/addr/name

     /net/aether/peers/addr/services

     /net/aether/peers/addr/lastseen

     /net/aether/peers/addr/rssi
The four files behind the four columns; each holds one line.

     /net/aether/self/name
          This node's advertised name. Writable.

     /net/aether/self/services
          What this node currently advertises.

NOTES
The table is bounded and the oldest entries are evicted when it fills, so
on a crowded band who shows the recent, not the complete.

Signal strength is of the last beacon heard, which on a mesh may have
been forwarded rather than received directly. Four filled cells means
     loud, not near.
