NAME
grep, wc - search for a pattern; count lines, words and characters

SYNOPSIS
     grep pattern [file...]
     wc [-lwc] [file...]

DESCRIPTION
Grep prints the lines of each file that contain pattern. With no file it
reads its standard input, which is how it is usually used: as the second
     half of a pipe.

Wc counts lines, words and characters.

OPTIONS
     -l Lines only.

     -w Words only.

     -c Characters only.

EXAMPLES

          who | grep pi

Count what is in a room:

          ls /n/bbs/rooms/general | wc -l
