Having the condition after the blocks isn't good for a stack-based language, since you're adding items (blocks) to the stack; they'd have to be moved out of the way, then restored. Or you'd have to shuffle things yourself; it's just cleaner to have them follow the condition 11:37:13 that was my argument, also that every other stack language works that way. their argument was that 'condition if' was more forth like! 11:38:49 does your language work with ngaro or does it need modifications? 11:38:51 I actually prefer the use of blocks over the more normal forth structures 11:38:58 yiyus: it works with ngaro 11:39:23 nice, i want to update gonga soon 11:39:25 currently, it's written *in* retroforth, but I expect it to be self-hosting on ngaro at some point 11:39:29 cool 11:39:33 and i want to add support for regexps 11:39:52 i would like to use it for scripting 11:44:17 I'll look forward to that 12:45:28 parable looks pretty sweet 12:51:38 docl: thanks 12:52:16 I'm trying it out now. It is really cool! 12:52:38 http://gist.github.com/555500 12:52:55 I like the colon prefix. goes well with the [ ] blocks. 12:53:04 revised; with more words and part of the bootstrap.toka file ported over 12:55:37 [ ... ] are still called quotes, right? 12:56:14 quotes or blocks 12:56:34 most languages using [ ] seem to prefer block; I'm not picky :) 12:56:47 :) 12:57:21 I see the # prefix is needed for numbers. I like that... makes it more clear that you are talking about a literal number, and takes the complexity out of the listen loop. 12:57:58 this is slightly more like colorforth, but with prefixes used instead of colors 13:03:25 * docl has to leave for a portland cryo meetup, will play with this some more later tonight or tomorrow 13:03:32 again, it is really cool. 13:03:44 ok, hope the meeting goes well 13:51:56 --- quit: docl (Ping timeout: 240 seconds) 18:04:25 --- join: foucist (~foucist@ps14150.dreamhost.com) joined #retro 18:04:31 --- mode: ChanServ set +v foucist 21:36:10 --- quit: crc (Ping timeout: 265 seconds) 21:37:03 --- join: crc (~charlesch@184.77.185.20) joined #retro 23:38:09 --- join: docl (~luke@97-120-241-117.ptld.qwest.net) joined #retro 23:59:59 --- log: ended retro/10.08.28
