It would be a libertarian offense mitigation market whereby people are given chances to negotiate points or credits to cover or penalize social offenses without government involvement. 12:03:18 The logic could be pretty simple. Everyone would get so many credits, say 100 points, for participating. These could be donated to a cause they sympathize with or sold to a cause they do not sympathize with. Those wishing to penalize others for offenses would be able to reduce their number of points by putting up an equal amount of points. The combined total would then be redistributed evenly to all participants. 12:07:10 Causes or organizations that accrue a negative balance would naturally be stigmatized. For example, the KKK would probably not be able to buy enough credits to cover their balance very easily as people who sympathize with them are relatively scarce whereas people who would penalize them are relatively common. However, people who are simply very productive but not well liked would be able to purchase a degree of tolerance. 12:15:08 * docl should write some code for this app :) 13:00:29 good afternoon 13:00:32 * crc is now home from work 13:02:52 hi crc 13:15:31 what's up? 13:16:02 I've been brainstorming economics 13:18:15 I had an idea that I thought might translate to a valuable web service. I'm working on some code for the logic of it, it's a relatively simple idea. 13:28:22 cool 14:07:15 I've begun to get a bit more active in c.l.f usenet lately 14:16:37 neat 14:16:54 what's happening there lately? 14:17:44 some discussion started by a guy who is playing with an old (9.2 varient) of retro; a newbie going through "starting forth", and some bits relating to the forth200x standard effort 14:19:11 cool 14:20:50 every time I go back into the 9.x code I get thankful that 10.x is so much cleaner :) 14:21:35 :) 16:29:47 http://retroforth.com/paste/?id=3409 16:40:01 I wonder if a system like this would work? 16:55:04 I don't see why not 17:53:56 --- quit: docl (Ping timeout: 240 seconds) 19:15:03 --- join: virl (~virl__@chello062178085149.1.12.vie.surfer.at) joined #retro 21:39:33 --- join: docl (~luke@216-161-87-126.ptld.qwest.net) joined #retro 23:03:17 http://retroforth.com/paste/?id=3410 23:03:23 tightened down a little 23:04:16 now I should look into making it a web app... 23:21:13 net.socket does not return a value. 23:38:22 hmm, works if I use fast-console 23:59:59 --- log: ended retro/10.05.22
