In fact, I have this one and few other books about Forth in Russian on my bookshelf. :) 12:00:32 ФОРТ! 12:00:46 --- quit: neceve (Quit: Konversation terminated!) 12:02:26 That seems to be a cool book. 12:04:26 Ah, it's a translation of the Brodie book. Took me too long to realise that :) 12:08:03 Riviera, Yes. And it has foreword of C. Moore "to Soviet reader" :) 12:09:19 "Чак Мур" :D 12:09:40 nice 12:10:20 true-grue: Out of curiousity, are such books rare in Russia? 12:12:41 Riviera, "Such books"? Books about Forth? Well, yes, they don't print them anymore. 12:14:23 true-grue: yeah i was wondering too what i actually meant with "such books". 8) 12:14:56 You can only find these books with help of second-hand books sellers. 12:15:01 --- join: opamp (~textual@97-104-93-154.res.bhn.net) joined #forth 12:16:07 I just guess the quality of the old books is better than the assembly-line-like IT publications we see nowadays, and I am curious how it is in Russia. But then, it's rather off-topic here, so .. nevermind :) 12:17:55 Riviera, Well, it's obvious that modern huge IT books getting old too fast. Meantime I still have books from 60-70s on my bookshelf. These books about computer theory and fundamental algorithms and approaches. 12:18:20 --- quit: opamp (Client Quit) 12:18:29 yup 12:37:32 Older computer books are usually worth more to me. 12:37:33 You can't do anything creative without theory and only the theory is timeless. At this point in time, Western universities are driving more towards practical skills, meanwhile Chinese Universities are working towards getting more theoretical. We'll see what happens with that. 12:37:33 Russia had it's own kind of Forth too. It had some aspects I find preferable. http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/anton/euroforth/ef00/lyakina00.pdf http://brokestream.com/daf.txt 12:49:06 pointfree, DSSP didn't gained a noticeable popularity even in USSR. In 80s we used FIG/F79 derived forths on the many Soviet machines, the big ones and on microcomputers too. 13:40:26 --- quit: GeDaMo (Remote host closed the connection) 14:20:55 --- quit: mtsd (Quit: leaving) 15:10:05 --- join: opamp (~textual@97-104-93-154.res.bhn.net) joined #forth 15:21:31 --- join: Chef_Gromboli (~Chef_Grom@static-72-88-80-103.bflony.fios.verizon.net) joined #forth 15:34:48 --- quit: opamp (Quit: My MacBook has gone to sleep.
