I'll answer what I can at Ray.stmarie AT gmail DOT com. Take care. 15:13:01 Raystm2: Are you an intellasys employee? 15:17:04 No. 15:17:33 just a colorForth enthusiast. 15:25:27 Oh. 15:26:37 --- join: tathi (n=josh@pdpc/supporter/bronze/tathi) joined #forth 15:26:38 --- mode: ChanServ set +o tathi 15:36:24 Hi Josh. :) 15:36:36 Hope you have been well. 15:37:19 tathi hows the family and the farm? 15:47:37 hi Ray 15:47:48 Things are pretty good here. 15:47:51 How's by you? 15:48:00 When do you plant? 15:48:11 I'm as well as can be expected, I suppose. 15:48:18 Oh, year round. 15:48:30 We're just starting to plant things outside now instead of in the greenhouses 15:48:33 I see. 15:48:39 Got ya. 15:49:03 This is a busy time for you then? 15:49:10 In the one greenhouse we have a few cherry tomatoes about the size of a marble already. 15:49:13 Yup. 15:49:24 Yum. :-) 15:50:05 lol, So, are you forth-Automating the entire process yet. 15:51:17 not yet :) 15:51:37 I never appreciated how many kinds of tomato there are. Heck even just at the local store you can get more then 5 kinds off the top of my head. 15:51:59 I did start writing some bits of Forth for web stuff, hoping to replace our (PHP) orders database eventually, but haven't gotten far with that. 15:52:05 I keep getting distracted by other things. 15:52:30 orders database? 15:52:41 Yeah. One local guy who used to have a big seedling business said he had probably trialed about 17,000 varieties of tomatoes. 15:52:47 invoicing database 15:53:11 (dropping jaw sound--if there is such a thing) 15:54:02 I see. So, you have built in customers when you took over or have you had to build clientel or ... little of both maybe? 15:54:46 More customers than we can grow produce for right now. 15:54:52 We're still kinda disorganized. 15:54:55 excellent. 15:54:58 oh. 15:54:59 And we're new at this. 15:55:02 ya. 15:55:15 And the previous owners weren't as good at it as they thought they were. :) :( 15:55:27 that won't last, being disorganized. You just need a year or two to get "ANNUAL FLOW" down, I suppose. 15:55:36 Oh, sure. We're getting there. 15:55:53 Ya. Nothing remains un-tathi-ed for long. lol 15:57:04 I suppose it's a life long situation, getting a farm to be efficient as possible while not trading away quality. 15:57:20 Yeah. 15:58:29 It was once a dream of mine as well. Build the house on a farm. Be atleast more self-sufficient. I fear now that I will never be able to do such a thing, physically. 15:58:36 I will grow some stuff tho. 15:58:58 Easy enough to do some 15:59:03 I'd like to mess abit with hydroponics for herbs, tomatoes... 16:00:57 ah. 16:01:06 I'll stick with dirt, myself. 16:01:22 Friend of mine has a greenhouse going in at his property. 16:02:01 Now that i'm not so busy, i'll pro'ly spend more time with him when it's finished. 16:02:08 He's quite the Greenthumb. 16:02:31 cool cool 16:03:04 Have you had much programming time over the last few months? 16:04:09 nope. 16:04:10 * Raystm2 hasn't read c.l.f in a loooong time and is trying to catch up. 16:04:12 little bits here and there 16:04:24 For your business? 16:04:37 nah, hobby stuff, mostly. 16:04:50 wrote a little forth tester thingy 16:05:06 started an HTML template library 16:05:17 messed around with FastCGI under gforth... 16:05:26 speaking of hobby stuff... Intellasys outted their cf2.0a. 16:05:33 FastCGI could be interesting... 16:06:17 Yeah...I don't have time to waste on things that aren't out yet. When Intellasys has stuff commercially available I'll try and find time to play with it. 16:06:35 ya. 16:07:33 I don't see where Jeff announced at C.L.F and assume he only told the cf mailinglist. 16:07:55 I didn't see it on c.l.f. 16:07:59 it's not too back actually. 16:08:02 bad even 16:08:08 what isn't? 16:08:13 cf2.0a 16:08:32 it runs in windows and natively, congruently. 16:08:57 oh, colorforth 16:09:08 ya. your fav language lol 16:09:08 I thought you meant something to do with their chip 16:09:12 heh. 16:09:13 no. 16:09:18 Any significant improvements? 16:09:23 I think so. 16:09:45 there are lots of new stuff for finding words. 16:09:49 Raystm2: Do you have a forthdrive? 16:10:13 Deformative: i've not heard of that term yet. 16:10:23 Googleing forthdrive. 16:10:38 Google "Intellasys forthdrive" 16:11:15 ya, it was the first thing that came up. 16:11:37 Sorry, I did know about that. No. I don't have one. 16:11:39 Do you? 16:12:01 No. 16:12:09 I am on the requester's list apparently. 16:12:36 Something I can do is simulate a stituation like that in colorforth using the sim code with minor changes. 16:12:48 Does this one include source code? :) 16:14:07 not the winWrapper source but for the most part colorforth is written in colorforth now ( not the editor or many kernel words but yes on the boot section) and for the stuff that is not, one has to beable to read compiled assembler for the first 18 blocks of code. 16:14:39 I've asked for the sources and have had no joy as of yet. 16:15:09 I imagine, after my last stunt, i might very well be being ignored by many in the community. 16:15:17 your last stunt? 16:16:16 I fired off a ml letter quiting colorforth for good. I only recently answered e-mail that was sent a month ago to consol me. 16:17:23 I was in a argument with JasonWoof and when I got angry enough to chew him a new one... Instead I quit irc/colorforth/forth... shut my computer off for a month ( that's new for me) 16:17:48 real ego centric baby blast. 16:18:34 It's the meds, you know. I can't always take them consitently and my personality suffers for it. 16:19:26 I triggered on the fact that someone yet again has told me that i'm ignorant and not a programmer by definition. 16:19:46 yikes I don't think i'm still over it. 16:20:04 or over it yet I mean. d'oh! 16:20:29 truth hurts, right! :) lol 16:22:04 heh 16:25:53 --- join: booyaa (n=booyaa@adsl-67-121-157-251.dsl.pltn13.pacbell.net) joined #forth 16:28:37 same thing got me fired from my last job. my sugar was so out of wack. I was confronting people all over the company for not being 100% working on efficiency or even questioning their loyalty to the company... that's when the meds started. I've been unemployable ever since and mostly for mental problems. Physical problems still exist, but i've always been an athlete and am used to bouncing back in that area. Mental is new for me. lol 16:31:25 anyway, dinner is on. Sorry to bore you with my probs.
