Does anyone else here enjoy the 1960's sci-fi tv show, The Outer Limits?

I have recently been re-watching the episodes and noticed something about
the episode The Man Who Was Never Born that I did not really think about
before.

 **SPOILERS** **SPOILERS** **SPOILERS** **SPOILERS** **SPOILERS**

At the end of the show, when Andro and Noelle cross back over the "time
warp line," Andro disappears because he was going from the past back into
his time in the future and, because he changed the past while he was there,
he was never born.

However, at the beginning of the show, when the original astronaut
accidentally travels into the future when trying to return to Earth during
his time, he disappears when traveling back to his time which
was in the past.

Since the original astronaut did not alter the past, how did his actions in
the future (which basically only involved him meeting Andro and then taking
him back into the past) erase the astronaut in the past?

The only thing I can figure is that maybe his past self was supposed to die
during the trip, and his brief, accidental trip into the future delayed
that event.

Any other theories?
