I also received a book of H G Wells stories for Christmas.  It contains
unabridged versions of 7 of his novels.  So far I have read "The Time
Machine" and "The Island of Dr. Moreau."  Moreau was the one I was figuring
I would like the least but, so far, it is actually my favorite.

I might also add that I have not seen any of the movies based on these
stories, so that makes them more  of a surprise.

I did also enjoy "The Time Machine," although I did not like how it turned
out for at least one of the characters.  But, as a fan of science fiction,
I realize these stories often don't end happily for many of the characters!

I had heard more about Moreau but, as it turned out, it was not exactly
what I thought it was.  I either misunderstood what I heard about the last
movie version when it came out, or they seriously changed the story.  I
have little doubt the book is better even though I've never seen the movie.

Both great stories.  I am 2 or 3 chapters into "The Invisible Man," and it
feels like another interesting story.  I will share a little more without
giving up spoilers after I finish it.
