Subj : Autumn To : AUGUST ABOLINS From : Rob Mccart Date : Tue Sep 29 2026 05:56:00 RM> Most used books the library gets are either not suitable or maybe RM> not desireable to put on the shelves so the library has to arrange RM> book sales and storage while hoping they sell so that's why they RM> have backed away from large donations. Likely the fact that I had RM> so many was what brought on that suggestion.. AA>It's a lot of work sifting through personal collections, sorting by >condition, etc. You don't want to introduce vermin and/or musty-smelling >books along-side new books. This is true.. I was thinking about my own books, not what might come from who knows what conditions.. RM> Re: Books, the paper type.. They had the CEO of Indigo Books on RM> the Business news tonight and she said that they are having their RM> best year in history.. She figures people want to get away from their RM> devices for a while and so have started buying 'real' books again. AA>I couldn't find that paricular report in writing anywhere online. But it >wouldn't be unusual for Heather to say something like that inorder to draw >attention in the hopes that people will visit an Indigo and buy something. You are right about that not being easily available online. I heard it in person and probably didn't catch all of it but I did hear the comment about how good a year they are having, but it doesn't show up in a search. Maybe an online rebroadcast of the show could be found. That was on the Taking Stock show on Sept. 25th with Amanda Lang talking to Heather Reisman for part of the show.
