National Weatherperson's Day is celebrated annually on February 5th to honor 
the men and women who forecast and report on weather, including 
meteorologists, broadcast professionals, and volunteer observers. 

It commemorates the birthday of John Jeffries, one of America's first 
weather observers, who began taking daily measurements in 1774.
