Based on other things I have read, I agree with this assessment.  I do not 
think it is the developers that are letting it take over so much as their
management.

I was able to use it in a similar manner on a project I didn't code.  It
was able to figure out that the issues were caused by updates to a library 
it was using (that required code changes) and updates to GCC (where it is
no longer as forgiving).  It is very nice for that.
