Subj : src/doors/syncdoom/MULTIPLAYER.md To : Git commit to main/sbbs/master From : Rob Swindell (on Debian Linux) Date : Sat Jul 04 2026 14:32:37 https://gitlab.synchro.net/main/sbbs/-/commit/f4a99eb4b1860cd5cfd92026 Modified Files: src/doors/syncdoom/MULTIPLAYER.md Log Message: syncdoom: document LAN/loopback vs inter-BBS lockstep latency up front The lockstep-latency nuance -- deathmatch plays fine on a shared install (the tic loop runs over loopback/LAN, well under one 35 Hz tic) and only degrades over the not-built inter-BBS federation (internet RTT inside the tic loop) -- was stated only inside the federation design section. Add a crisp callout near the top so a reader gets it without scrolling to the deferred design, since it also applies to the shipped LAN multi-host deathmatch. Co-op absorbs internet RTT; competitive deathmatch does not. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 --- þ Synchronet þ Vertrauen þ Home of Synchronet þ [vert/cvs/bbs].synchro.net .
