Bah! Humbug! Why not? You blame Casso all the time ... and you `feed' him more than anybody else in the group does. >... > > I think what you are basically getting at is that you want to have > > this newsgroup entirely to yourself, where you can post things to > > your heart's content without annoying anyone. > > Bzzzt! You really didn't get it, Colin, did you? It was SARCASM, Colin. _____ ___ ______ _____ ___ ________ ____ _ _ / ___|/ _ \ | ___ \/ __ \ / _ \ / ___| \/ | | | | \ `--./ /_\ \| |_/ /| / \// /_\ \\ `--.| . . | | | | `--. \ _ || / | | | _ | `--. \ |\/| | | | | /\__/ / | | || |\ \ | \__/\| | | |/\__/ / | | |_|_|_| \____/\_| |_/\_| \_| \____/\_| |_/\____/\_| |_(_|_|_) In other words, `a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language' [Webster]. You bitch at other people in the group so often (and yes, I can see it coming now, you'll bitch at me about this posting too, but I don't care) that one could be forgiven for thinking that you wanted no-one else besides yourself in the group at all. Martin's comment was quite funny ... >... > I think what you might be saying is that you choose not to remember > Veronica Karlsson's postings. Well, it's good that you at least realize this, Colin. I hope, therefore, that despite your 150 years in this group, despite your supreme wisdom, despite your authorship of most of the RFCs relating to Usenet, despite the fact that you probably don't realize that I'm being sarcastic again yet, despite your omnipotence, despite your outright godliness, you take it upon yourself to `conduct you [sic] Net activities more sensibly', and not to bash Martin so much. For Martin, IMHO, has done more to help new members of this group, with his advice, utilities, and mini-FAQs, than you and I have together. >... > > You are correct, I am only 15. Have you ever noticed, Colin, that you are the only person who ever calls them `Stein Wars'? And have you, just possibly, ever noticed that you are the only one (apart from Casso himself, of course) who actually /participates/ in these so-called `Stein Wars'? >... > ObAscii: > > Oriental Spinning Machine >... > <))===))> -Achille Hui- [Sigh] The reason I suggested the `ObAscii' in the first place was to discourage flame wars. The idea was that by the time you had gone to the trouble of drawing a picture of your own, you would (1) be actually contributing a picture to the group, and (2) calm down a lot. (It worked for me, anyway -- you should have seen the first draft of this message. :-) Posting someone /else/'s picture really defeats the purpose of the ObAscii, because (1) it's been posted before, and (2) it doesn't take as long to do, so you don't calm down. It would be really nice, Colin, if you followed up on what you wrote on September 5: >... > Agreed, but I'm considering stopping diddling altogether and posting > only my own original material ( if that is truly possible ). > Pictures in my collection that I have already diddled I will > probably retain and sometimes repost. >... I wait with bated breath for your original pictures, Colin. Meanwhile, here's my ObAscii -- an original picture, of course. I call it, `On seeing another episode of the Punch Douthwaite and Judy Casso Show'. ,\|\ . ,- -|.\\ \"/|/,/,- _ ,\\-=\\_\`|\" \|`|`|_ -/\=/=-"\|\ |\/\|.|.||_ \//\|"|\=\=/\'\\/\|.|.|||/. ,-|\"/\|"'"'"""\|/"\F.|.|||,-. /|/ . .
