Note that the SGML standard requires that the parser remove a newline
immediately following the start tag or immediately preceding the end
tag. 

 Ns4 and Ie4 do the opposite and add a newline at the 
tag :( ... it seems to look better using older table-compatible browsers like Ns2,Ie3,Columbus2 that interpret the
 tag correctly
