You'll still be in windows and using edit. If you want to view them with true DOS ansi color codes just put a line in config.sys, like at the end, that says devicehigh=c:\windows\command\ansi.sys then you can fire up the dos prompt from inside windows without exiting windows and view DOS ansi/ascii files with either the command type filename or the command moreMany nfo files in WareZ groups are written in some DOS ASCII art.
