Date: 1996/08/22 Message-ID: <321C2370.635F@earthlink.net>#1/1 X-Deja-AN: 175817176 sender: bertino@netcom2.netcom.com organization: Earthlink Network, Inc. newsgroups: rec.arts.ascii,alt.ascii-art Hello everyone! I have written a clone of FIGlet. Finally, a Windows version will soon be available. It is compatible with both Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. (16-bit) Functionally, it is finished. I am still writing the help file and "tweaking it." I expect to release it (yes, as FREEWARE) in September. "FigWin" will be compatible with 99% of Figlet 2 fonts. (A few figlet fonts are designed to use characters which are not available with ANY windows program.) NEW FEATURES: VERTICAL smushing! ("lines" of an image are smushed into preceeding lines) A full-featured font editor Easy access to the Windows clipboard Of course, an easy-to-use Windows interface Evan though it doesn't officially "exist" yet, I've created a website for it. It includes screen shots and just about anything you could ever want to know. http://home.earthlink.net/~solution/figwin.html I'll keep you all informed of the progress of FigWin. I have been in touch with Ian Chai, who does "customer service" for FIGlet. Consider this a public "thank you" for his help. - Paul Burton
