What is the temperament:

Temperament is the character, the way of being, reacting or driving a person. It is also the vocation or aptitude that someone manifests for an art or trade or the ability to overcome difficulties.

The temperament supposes the instinctive-affective layer of personality, and on it, and with the intervention of intelligence and will, the character of the person will be modeled. In turn, character and temperament will be the ones that will define our personality.

Each person has a temperament that distinguishes it, because temperament has to do with the way in which, naturally, people relate to the environment.

Temperament is what determines our ability to adapt to the changes and the new, our moods, our tendency to activity or passivity, as well as our accessibility.

Temperament is determined by the characteristics of people's nervous system and is related to endocrine influence.

It should be noted that in psychology prior to the twentieth century, the study of temperaments was considered to have a central role in understanding the way of being and behaving of people.

Types of temperament

In ancient times, doctors considered that there were four fundamental temperaments according to the preeminence of one or the other humor in the body: blood, melancholic, cholic and phlematic.
Blood Temperament

People with angry temperament are characterized by being fast, active, extroverted, determined and dominant. They want their will to be done, and that's why they have firm ideas and opinions. However, they are often flexible to change. They are ambitious, and therefore high targets are set, hence they are voluntary, self-sufficient and independent. Your nervous system is strong, fast and unbalanced.
A phlegmatic tempore

People of a phlegmatic character are calm, slow, introverted, serious and analytical. They hardly lose their composure. However, they are little given to the changes. They prefer reflection than emotion. Hence they are nice in the deal. They are characterized by a slow and balanced nervous system.
Melancholy Temperament

The melancholy temperament characterizes sad, dreamy, analytical and introverted people, with great sensitivity and an enormous eagerness for perfection. They are unflexed to changes, but very reliable, as they never abandon what they have started. It is the artistic temperament par excellence, but also very prone to depression and pessimism. They have a weak nervous system.
